Gus is a beautiful and young 5 year old red-fronted macaw. This mid-sized macaw is a highly endangered species from Bolivia. Because of his checkered past, Gus is learning new skills. For example, he had learned to scream quite regularly for attention - now he is being rewarded for independent play and quieter sounds. He is learning to step onto a towel to avoid a past history of unwanted hands. Gus is given the choice and amply rewarded when he decides to engage in a positive way. He is interactive, interested in being part of the family, loves foot toys and is a good eater.
