My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Darbie is a beautiful girl waiting for the right family or person to give her the happily ever after she deserves. If interested in adopting Darbie please fill out an application here http://www.bestfriendsforlifeanimalrescue.com/
When things go wrong I feel real bad. I'm just a soul whose intentions are good Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood Baby, sometimes I'm so carefree With a joy that's hard to hide I'm just a soul whose intentions are good Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood - from 'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood' by The Animals We have a beautiful young lady eagerly awaiting her chance to find her happily ever after in her very own forever home. Darbie is a 5 year old black lab mix weighing 65 lbs. Our sweet Darbie is in fact a very good girl, a very sweet girl, a very smart girl....and sadly a very misunderstood girl. Unfortunately she does not like dogs or cats . She needs a family (or person) that will commit to never having cats or dogs in the home. Darbie is otherwise the best pooch you will ever meet. She is already house and crate trained with wonderful house manners. She is very good on leash but does tend to bark when crossing the path of other dogs. She is very obedient, responding to correction, and continues on without incident. She is currently fostered within her recue home and is constantly introduced to new people through volunteers of all ages, most notably 3 young ladies ages 10 to 15 who take her on long daily outings. Darbie knows quite a few commands such as sit, wait, paw (shake), and leave it. She is a complete love bug with people and good in the company of large male dogs. Apparently she has a unique special ability. She alerted when the family bird started having seizures and did stop barking until the bird received the help it needed (the bird is fine now). Darbie would do best in a home where her people will give her the daily play time, exercise, love and affection she needs and deserves. Darbie is already spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, and current on preventatives. You'll not find a more lovable or loyal girl. We just know that somewhere out there is the perfect family for Darbie and it just breaks our hearts that she is overlooked because of her dislike of cats and little dogs. There are so many breeds that this is automatically accepted but for some reason people turn away when it shows up in a lovable lab. She's just a soul whose intentions are good....please don't let her be misunderstood.
