Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ursa is a Special Adoption:Please read bio in full.
Ursa is a 1 year old pit bull/bull terrier mix. She's a favorite among staff and volunteers because of her affectionate disposition. She hangs out in the clinic helping our vet staff; she's a great nurse and helps cat and dog patients feel comfortable as they recover from surgery, it's very sweet to watch! She can be initially timid and prefers a calmer environment free from too much chaos, so we think an adult only home might be what makes her happiest. Ursa is an energetic girl who loves to play, go for hikes, and run around with her doggy friends! She loves all dogs she meets big and small and is great with cats. She is a goofy girl and loves to roll around on her back, do tricks, wag her tail and be silly. When Ursa is having quiet time, she loves nothing more than curling up on your lap and rolling over for belly rubs. She is a perfect, small size at 45lbs. This super smart girl knows her basic tricks and is learning something new every day!! Ursa is very treat motivated making her easier to train. Come meet Ursa!!
The SPCA of Westchester works hard to find permanent homes for our adoptable dogs. Families interested in dogs listed as “Special Adoptions” will work with our trainer to insure that the adoption is the correct placement for that dog. During this time, the dog’s bio will still appear on PetFinder, marked “Adoption Pending”. If another family is interested in that dog, they can fill out an adoption application and leave it for the trainer. In the event that the adoption does not work out, the next application received will be considered as the next potential candidate. The trainer will only work with one family at a time that she deems is a valid candidate for that adoption. Thank you for your understanding.
No appointment is necessary to come in and meet/adopt an animal unless noted differently above. Our hours are Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday's 1pm-4pm. You may also fill out an Application when you get here. We do same day adoptions. Please note, we do NOT hold animals, nor do we accept deposits in advance. Even if you have discussed coming in to meet an animal or have an approved Application with us this does not necessarily guarantee you will get that particular puppy or dog. Also note, even if approved to adopt from us, if you have a dog(s) at home they MUST meet the dog(s) you are interested in adopting from here to ensure they get along before you can officially adopt. All Dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated (age appropriate) and come with a free 7 day Veterinarian check from a participating Vet!
High Kill Shelter/Southern Rescues, both Puppies and Adults are $350, All Puppies are $350 and Local Stray Adults over 1 year of age are $200-$350. Seniors and Lonely Hearts Club members are $75.
