My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Spencer is an adorable little senior Chihuahua mix who has had a pretty rough life. In his previous home he suffered a broken leg. It was never treated so it healed incorrectly and he no longer has use of that leg. However, he doesn't let that hold him down, he is still spry enough to hop around, get up on the couch and run around the backyard.

He is slowly starting to build trust and is learning that not all people are scary. As he gains trust, his sweet personality is coming through. He loves to go out on the leash and is starting to relax enough to enjoy snuggling and petting. He is a quiet, sweet lap dog and he is also a HUGE fan of treats. He is also doing well with the other dogs and kids in his foster home.

Spencer is heartworm positive, but GAO will pay the expenses to get him well. If you have a soft spot and room in your heart, please consider adding Spencer to your family

Founded in June, 2000, Georgetown Animal Outreach, (GAO) is a non-profit (I.R.S. sec. 501,c,3) volunteer group located in Georgetown, Texas. Our mission is to support and enhance the services provided by the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter and other local organizations dedicated to the welfare of animals.

The GAO Adoption Application process helps us determine which pets will be the most compatible with your family and lifestyle. The animal's welfare is our primary consideration when placing it into a home so some applicants may be refused if we feel the home is not well suited for the animal. GAO reserves the right to refuse an applicant without further explanation.
Basic adoption criteria:
You must be 21 years of age or older
You must be able to present identification showing your present address
All members of the household must agree to adopt the animal
If you rent, you must provide GAO with adoption consent from your landlord, if applicable
There is an adoption fee that covers medical care (like spays/neuters, shots, and heart worm and flea preventatives). These fees are considerably lower than the actual costs associated with each animal. We subsidize our rescues through fundraising and donations.
    $95 for mixed breed dogs
    $150 for puppies
    $200 for pure breed dogs
    $85 for cats and kittens
Georgetown Animal Outreach is a 501c3 (tax deductible) organization and your adoption contribution is tax deductible. All animals will be vaccinated and spayed/neutered. However, we cannot guarantee the health of these animals. Most came from regional animal shelters and might have a short history in our foster program. Of course, we hope they are healthy and have done our best to provide them with good health care and shelter. All have been examined by a
