My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Teddy. He's the strong silent type. He is a mellow guy who doesn't ask for much. He will be your loyal friend and companion for the rest of his life if you give him the same devotion.

Teddy's first owner thought that physical force and correction were the way to 'train' a husky. What Teddy learned is that not all humans are kind, and trust must be earned.

Teddy has been living with his second owner for about 4 years. They love Teddy but with the arrival of their first baby, they have decided Teddy is better suited to an adult only home.

Teddy is housebroken and trustworthy in the house. He gets along with other large dogs and would probably do well with a companion dog his size (no little dogs please). He is good with cats and currently lives with 3 cats in his home. He is not hyper. He's playful when he feels like it. He is great on a leash and loves to take long walks. In the house, he is content to nap at his human's feet.

Teddy knows basic commands. He sits nicely for his treats and takes them gently. He goes into a 'down' when asked and sits patiently at the door while he gets his leash on for his walk. He is respectful of baby gates and trustworthy at night.

Teddy's owner has been working with him to reinforce positive socialization with strangers, and that human hands offer treats and kindness. Teddy will need a compassionate new owner willing to work with him. He would benefit from positive method only dog training to help him bond with his new owner. He is recommended for an adult only, dog savvy home. Experience with the breed is a plus.

Teddy is 10 years old, neutered and up to date on shots. He is a big guy with a solid build, about 85 pounds.

Teddy really wants to be part of a family. He deserves to live his golden years with love and compassion, with family he can call his own. Let Teddy show you what a great companion he can be.

*Teddy comes to TOTT from New York, through the referral of his owner. TOTTSHR works with families to help find new homes for their dogs when the families have extenuating circumstances, such as an illness, that prevent them from being able to care for their canine friends. If not enough foster space is currently available to bring a dog into rescue, and if the family is willing to continue caring for the dog until he or she can be placed in a new home, we post the dog on this page to help the family find their friend a new home.
