My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

At MCFOTS we've touched the lives of thousands of dogs. And in turn had thousands of them touch ours. But every once in a while a really special dog comes along that you'll never forget. Thomas is one of those dogs. He came to us in the fall of 2011 from Animal Control and spent two months at the MCFOTS facility during which time we discovered his amazing climbing skills. The morning shift volunteers would come in to find Thomas had climbed the block wall of not just his kennel, but every kennel along his row visiting with all of the dogs along the way. He was especially fond of the littles and would lay down and allow them to walk all over him and yap in his face while he just grinned. In January of 2012, Thomas was adopted out by a family with two small girls and he was amazing with them. He let the smallest walk him and even climbed up the stairs and slid down the slide on their swing set. Life was great. Until earlier this month when we got the call that the family would no longer keep him due to his habit of climbing out of the fence. Needless to say, while we were happy to see him again, we were heartbroken to have Thomas return without a home. Our boy is a gentle giant of a pitt lab mix who loves his babies (stuffed toys) and chasing balls (but possibly not bringing them back). He's fond of belly rubs and very fond of treats-so much so that he was allowed to gain too much weight in his former home. He's managed to lose 7.5 pounds in the last few weeks with us and only has 6.5 more to go to be at his ideal weight. Thomas loves and adventure and playing so being active is easy for him.
