My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tassie is special girl. She is a small package of white English Golden Retriever who is all heart. We’ll never know what she suffered before her rescue but it caused her to fear everything. She is recovering nicely from all that and she has responded with courage and love. She is still a shy girl but loves attention. She backs away from folks she doesn’t know but her curiosity will bring her to sniff and investigate and even seek some attention from a patient visitor.

She has begun to play with dog toys and occasionally will even chew the squeaker and stuffing out of them. In our pack, that is a sign of normalcy which we welcome in her. She loves and plays with her foster brothers. There is not a trace of aggressiveness in her personality. She will yield her food bowl or toy to anyone without complaint. Tassie has not been tested with cats but there is no reason to think she would have a problem.

Walking her has been a issue because she is very frightened of the lead. Another mystery of her past. We have been working on making the walk a positive experience and she is improving. She is house trained and loves to run the back yard. She will come when she is called and is happy to be inside.

Tassie can be left alone reliably. She rests quietly near her family while in the house but will play with the boys when they get active. She is only vocal at meal time when occasionally she will speak if she is outside when the bowls are being prepared. She does love her food. She would do well with almost any family. Small children who might grab at her could be problematic in that it could aggravate her fear. Because it will take time for her to adapt to a new setting, her ideal family should be able to spend quality time with her during the transition. Retired folks, stay at home mom or dad or someone who needs a companion could be a delightful match.

Tassie is sweet, loving and affectionate. To see the progress she has made since her rescue has been heart warming and exciting and a tribute to the resilience of this wonderful breed. No one deserves a happy forever home more than this girl and we will miss her terribly when she finds that family.
