Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Winnie is a very sweet bullmastiff girl who has some special requirements for her forever home. She has had a rough life thus far and we are looking to turn that around for her. We know the perfect home is out there for this very special girl.
Winnie is looking for an adult-only home as she is a big girl but forgets this sometimes when she is around wee ones.
She can sometimes be nervous around new people or animals so she does need an experienced handler to help her be more trusting and relaxed. She does very well with positive reinforcement training and will do just about anything for a treat. She really does not respond well when people try to be 'dominant' with her. This is a big no-no for Winnie and her new home needs to understand this.
She would prefer to be the only animal in the home. In her previous home, she did not do well with another resident dog and there was an altercation between them resulting in injuries and Winnie's surrender back into rescue. She has lived with both cats and dogs in the past and has since been introduced to several other dogs without incident, but we really want to make sure she is comfortable with all of the residents of her new home.
Winnie is a lower-energy dog but she does enjoy a leisurely daily walk to keep in shape.
While Winnie is house-trained, she sometimes loses control of her bladder. She does this while she is sleeping and does not realize it is happening. With frequent trips to the bathroom during the day, this is a very rare occurrence. Winnie also makes it through the night just fine without needing to go out. She is crate-trained and will happily stay in her crate while you are out so this should not be a huge issue but her new people should be prepared for it.
Despite the fact that Winnie has some unique requirements in a home, she is an amazing dog. She is a quiet, loving girl who just wants a ton of love from her people. She walks well on a harness and is quiet in the house. She doesn't chew things or jump up on people and is just a lovely companion.
If you think you might be willing to open your home and your heart to this beautiful girl, or if you have any questions about Winnie, please feel free to email us.
