Here's what the humans have to say about me:
***ADOPTION PENDING***
Meet Remy! Remy is a 4 year old Rottweiler who came from a sad situation where he was left neglected his whole life. Remy and some of our other rescues; Mya, Ben, Dixie, and Buddy, were left in crates inside a shed on the property until we were asked to help these deserving dogs. ANML-RESQ was fortunate to be able to help this beautiful boy and help prepare him for what life should be all about for such a sweet dog.
When Remy first arrived into foster care, it had taken him some time to learn to trust his rescuers. Fast forward a couple of months of constant reassurance, love, stability, and structure, and Remy has begun to come out of his shell. His foster home describes him as a “super sweet” dog. We are searching for a patient and experienced home to continue to give Remy the opportunity to move forward and learn to become a well-mannered and stable dog and giving him enough time to trust on his own without being pushed too far too fast.
“Remy has been showing us that he is grasping the 'Living inside a home' concept and he LIKES it so much that he prefers it over going on long walks. Like most Rottweilers he LOVES to be with his people but unfortunately he didn't get that chance for the first 4 years of his life, so this handsome lovable 4 year old boy has the excitement of a puppy at first when meeting new people and dogs. With guidance, he has learned to sit while greeting people or receiving food and is very calm inside the home. Remy loves his toys, especially the soft stuffies and socks. He enjoys carrying them in his mouth on his walks sometimes too, so very cute. Remy enjoys rolling around on his back while playing with a toy, It's so heart-warming to watch this big boy so relaxed and just enjoying being a DOG for the first time in his life”.
Seeing that Remy is learning what is expected and the joys of being a family dog, he still has many puppy tendencies which can be intimidating to a novice home. A home with experience in caring for a dog with an oversized puppy mentality is what Remy needs to thrive. Remy needs the positive structure from a patient home to teach Remy not to greet new people too enthusiastically and to continue to work on his resource guarding of toys. If Remy feels his toys will be taken away, he will gladly trade for a doggy cookie with no problem.
“Remy walks good on leash, can pull at the start but then settles down after the first 5 minutes. He has figured this out fast seeing as he never wore a collar before or been walked on a leash. Remy is learning so much every day and does this best when given lots of time and patience for him to take it all in. He LOVES to have his belly rubbed and just sit beside you for love. He sleeps in his crate at bedtime or when left alone. Remy is a very sweet boy and ready to find his forever family”.
Once Remy is exercised he is calm, quiet, and laid back inside the house. He enjoys hanging out with his people, enjoys to relax on the porch and “live the life”, and loves to play with a big ball in the yard and to play fetch. He is also good with large/med dogs, but can play rough so a home with another larger sized dog that can handle rough-and-tumble play would be best suited. Remy has met the resident chickens and initially showed interest but with time and training he now just walks around them to check and keeps on walking. During feeding time, Remy barks in excitement and takes treats gently from your hand, he especially loves cucumber and celery as a treat.
This super-sized puppy is looking for an experienced large breed owner in a country setting, to continue with his training. He is neutered, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, housetrained, crate-trained. Due to his large size no small children under 10yrs. Remy is good with getting baths, groomed, and his foster home is working on nail trims.
If you feel you can offer Remy a home with trust and love, please fill out an adoption application form or contact us.
