Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sweet Lilly is a beautiful 6 yr old red and white female Border collie. In recent months, Lilly’s life has taken an unfortunate turn. She has spent her entire life as a working dog on a sheep ranch. She worked hard and gave her whole life to her job. She loved it and was good at it. This ended abruptly when she was involved in a traumatic accident while working. As she was penning sheep, a fence fell on her; she was pinned under the fence and trampled. She was bruised and battered physically, but much worse, she was shattered emotionally. Her owner tried to work her through it, but she struggled. He ended up taking her to a shelter where he hoped she might get a chance to be happy again. We were fortunate to find her there, but she had been there 4-5 weeks and was completely shut down. She was like a zombie.
She is making huge strides. We are starting to see her wag her tail and approach people. Lilly has a great heart and a good mind. She wants to be with people, but hasn’t been able to get past her anxiety to be comfortable - yet. Every step toward a normal life is a victory for Lilly. We celebrate her progress every day.
Lilly does well with other dogs and cats. Laid back and confident dogs are a comfort to her and help her gain confidence.
Lilly is looking for a committed and loving person with lots of time, patience and compassion to shower on her. She is now at the point of wanting to bond with someone. It will still take time and patience to help her develop that bond, but once she does form a bond, it will be a very special one. She will do best in a quiet environment – she is probably not a big city girl : )
If you can give the Lilly the time and opportunity to trust and love you, it will possibly the experience of a life time. You will be changed by her courage and willingness to try.
Lilly is being fostered in Heber, Utah.
