Here's what the humans have to say about me:
King Louie is fostered in McFarland Wisconsin 53558 through United Yorkie Rescue - for more information on King Louie, contact his foster momma at: shellylampe@hotmail.com
King Louie came to United Yorkie Rescue in April 2015, a 4yr old 10lb. male Yorkie left at a shelter by his owner who no longer wanted him because he does not have use of his back legs. United Yorkie Rescue stepped in and have been fund raising to get him a mobility cart and the care he needs. With a cart, he gets around now that he has his cart to help him. He loves his cart and can absolutely fly in it!! He might be in a wheel chair but that doesn't slow him down any!!
King Louie is in therapy to try and regain use of his back legs, he’s made progress since therapy began, but not enough to fully walk again. Therapy will continue and we hope for a miracle for King Louie. He doesn't like to go potty in his cart, it’s somewhat of a challenge, so his goes potty in his kennel. He also has accidents when he gets excited, it’s part of his rear paralysis issue. He wears a belly band in the house in case he gets excited so he doesn't have accidents, and he doesn't mind it, it’s very easy maintenance. With the exception of not having use of his back legs, he is pretty much like any dog. He loves walks, being outside, belly rubs, attention, treats, and car rides. Medically, he may get more urinary tract infections than most as he is not able to fully empty his bladder. This is quite common for dogs that do not have total control of their bowels. He does have some control over his bowels, but may not be able to wait until he gets outside. King Louie's family will need to express his bladder when he goes outside. No worries here, it is quite easy and does not hurt him. He stands very still and doesn't move until he is told he is done. We have found that it is almost easier expressing a bladder - there are fewer accidents!!
He does great with his fur brothers and sisters but does not like cats. The doctor thinks he’ll do best in a home as the only dog, so has a lot of attention. He loves to be loved on and spoiled rotten. King Louie’s a good eater; he eats his fill and leaves the rest. If you have any questions please feel free to ask his foster momma or contact United Yorkie Rescue.
