Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**Rufus is currently living in a foster home in Houston, Texas and is available in the Vancouver area. Additional fees are required by Customs upon his arrival.**
Rufus is a big goofy, cuddle bug and he loves life and everything it has to offer. He is a very handsome Boxer/Staffordshire mix with a very unique dark brindle and white coat and the cutest floppy ears. At 18 months old, he is full grown at 65 pounds. Rufus was found wearing a choke chain with a piece of rope tied to it by a very concerned and compassionate person. The rope had been chewed away from wherever he was tied and he was on a mission to find a better life.
The best thing about Rufus is that he really adores everyone that he meets, dogs, cats, kids, adults…everyone! He is always cheerful, playful and silly. He likes to run around with the cats in his foster home. He’s not chasing them, he’s their companion. He’s equally as fun with all of the dogs he meets too. He goes to doggy daycare often and has a blast the whole time he’s there. He fancies the tennis balls and squeaky toys at daycare, but it’s clear he didn’t have these in his previous place because he’s still not exactly sure what their purpose is.
Rufus doesn’t sit still for long because he’s still making up for the months that he wasn’t enjoying life. He does so many adorable things like spinning around when his people walk in the room to show how excited he is that they have returned to him. He also likes to ask for scratches when he sees his friends. Although he is an active boy, it is all in good fun and he is very gentle when he should be, like taking treats out of your hands and putting his seatbelt on for car rides. He is really adaptable to all situations and is one of these “go with the flow” types. Belly rubs are most definitely on Rufus’ things to do list, so put the movie on and let that boy cuddle up.
Rufus listens very well to his people and takes correction well too. His perfect family is an active bunch that will take him along and show him this great new life. They should allow him to have fun, but also set the rules so he continues to stay in control of his energy. He is still learning about all of this new stuff and will need continued training on new commands, running in a straight line and not pulling his leash when he gets excited, but he already knows “sit”, “curb” and “check”, which are very helpful! Rufus would be a great playmate for children that are a bit older and can play and run with him. He needs a yard to play in and wouldn’t do well as a resident in an apartment or townhouse. Another active dog in the family would be amazing, but not necessary if he could visit the dog park or doggy daycare on a regular basis.
This guy is solid is stature and in character and he is looking to share a heaping amount of love, affection, action and more with a family that has the same for him. He’s a great boy and is available for out of state adoption. His adoption fee is $450, which includes his airline flight, his travel crate and bed. If you have any questions or want to give this sweet guy a belly rub every day, please email us at adoptions@reggiesfriends.org.
