THANK YOU NANCY!! YOU'RE GETTING A GREAT LITTLE GIRL!.. Honey is a nice girl with a real shyness towards humans. She was rescued from a commercial breeding facility. We've been working with her and getting her used to being a house dog. She is great with small friendly dogs, and would probably do best with another small buddy to pal around with and follow. She has made alot of progress learning about being on a leash, and alot of other things, like socializing with people, but mostly just how to relax and not have to worry about being a mom to puppy mill pups. Honey is great in the car too.
She has been spayed in the spring of 2008, finally, and had some dental extractions, but is eating small hard food and taking chicken jerky chip treats. Honey needs a loving forever home, if you would like to apply for her, please do so. Giving this dog a home will be very rewarding.
She will need alot of practice with her house training, working with pee pads and frequent yard trips, has some accidents, but does great generally in her own area that she is allowed to be in, which helps her feel safe. She is doing pretty good for being 11 years old, and as you know poms live a little longer typically, so she isn't slowing down yet.
Whomever she ends up with should have a huge heart and a ton of patience to encourage her to relax and have some fun, as well as provide structure. She will do best with an adult or couple that understands what she has been through and allows her some space. She will love short or long leash walks, but will be a little lost and spooked sometimes, so she is on a harness to keep from slipping away. She likes to watch everyone and what they are up to. She can navigate stairs.
Honey requires regular brushing and occasional visits to the groomer to remove her undercoat which is super soft and a beautiful cream color. We're working with Pom Posse on this particular rescued foster dog, so we'll go by their adoption processes, etc. Honey is about 10 lbs. and has a microchip.
