LASSIE UPDATE 4/24/215
Lassie update 4/24/2015
Lassie has been in foster care since September with all sorts of fear related labels NONE of which were aggressive. 3 Dogs Rescue took her in 2.5 weeks ago. She has been in a foster home for a bit over two weeks during which time she has blown away 90% of those labels.
Yes, Lassie is fearful, timid and quick at flight, but she has taken to sleeping on the foster families beds and accepting belly rubs. Having broken ground over a cheese stick and ever since then, her foster "mom" believe they are - as much as she knows how to show it - BFF's.
When startled, or company comes in, Lassie goes to her bed. Lassie will meet the foster family at the door with a wagging tail and happiness. She now runs in the yard and plays with her foster siblings and enjoys tossing around a toy or two. Bark - Lassie has barked barked twice in two weeks. Both times were quiet "woofs" for her foster to move over and let her on the bed.
To date lassie has been great with the foster families children, who are respectful of her and don't expect her to snuggle. She ignores the cat. And would rather be inside than out. The family is pretty sure Lassie has the ability to jump the fence, but her interest is doing her business and waiting on the step to come in. She will walk on a leash, but if unhooked at the end of the driveway will race to the porch and wait.
Going to her crate is an automatic for Lassie as her "safe place" though she spends hardly any time there now it is left up for when company comes over and because she had been so dependent on the security it offers.
We believe Lassie will be a great companion for someone who understands she is not (yet) a snuggly dog. She will need continued encouragement and support. She has come a long ways and deserves the very best.

Lassie is a little beauty who has come a long way while in foster care. She appears to be a street dog by her overwhelming fear of people in general. Lassie is about two years old (33 pounds) and has been in a foster home with multiple other dogs. Here is what her foster mom offers to describe Lassie: This dog is completely house broken, and gets along well with all of the multiple dogs in the foster home. She enjoys tossing and chewing toys, and shoes, and running around the back yard. She is a quiet dog, who rarely barks. In many ways, Little Lassie is a perfect dog, BUT, she is extremely shy. She has come a long way from her initially hiding behavior. Now, she wants to be in the same room with her foster family, and sleeps on the sofa at the end of their bed. Sometimes, Little Lassie will come up to you for a brief pet, especially if you are sitting.
Lassie is good on a leash, ignores her foster family cat, enjoys playing with dogs and keeping track of people when they go room from room. She is very sweet, and has never shown any aggression. It is important for her rehabilitation, that no one shows any aggression towards her.
If you can offer the type of home this dog needs (fenced yard, patience, another dog companion), we would love to hear from you.
