Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This poor guy spent 2 weeks in a lonely run in a city pound. Toby was given up when his owner fell on hard times. He always looked so sad so we were thrilled when a foster spot opened up for him. He hasn't stopped smiling since he got into a real, altho temporary, home. Toby is a Beagle/Basset mix and weighs about 40 pounds. We were told he was 13 years old but he is still pretty active and has a lot of pep. I would put him closer to being 10. He is quite friendly and seems to be OK with the resident dogs in his foster home. While he does have that typical, enchanting Hound howl, he doesn't use it very often. Just give him a nice marrow bone and a fluffy dog bed and Toby will be happy. He likes to be around people and to go for walks around the neighborhood. Toby didn't deserve to end up in a pound.
Toby did go to the vet and he has some issues that go along with advanced age. He does have a growth in his anal area and the vets are pretty sure that it is malignant. However, he can last a couple more years with this condition but there are no guarantees. He has a distinct heart murmur but upon having an ultrasound, his heart is in pretty good shape. In fact, he doesn't even require any medications at this time. He also seems to be urinating a lot and is quite thirsty but we had complete blood work done and there is no sign of disease anywhere. This will be repeated in a few week after he gets some good nutrition and lots of TLC. He has been neutered and had a much needed dental. Please open your heart to this guy so he can live out his life safe and comfortable with a family who loves him.
