My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

While some of Opi's pictures may not be cute...she has a story to share...

This little girl was plastered up against the Weathercraft Roofing building window in Ogallala with the wind keeping her in place, 25 mph gusting to 35 mph straight at her. The building is right off the highway, approaching her was a risky move. A slight startle and she was going to be flat on the busy busy highway at 5:15 pm.

But, we couldn't leave her...so we approached...

She meowed at me the whole time. She was scared. I made direct eye contact with her and gave her the "I love you" Jackson Galaxy slow blink. I pet her, I pick her up. She was shaking, her little heart just pounding.

I still didn't know if when I took a step if she was going to flip out, climb over my head and head out into traffic.

We get her into a car and get the door shut...she is safe...

She is filthy, her white paws are gray. She doesn't appear to be starving. She is very young, my first guess is 6-9 months. Where in the world did she come from? She is in the midst of commercial buildings. She has had contact with people because I picked her up without loosing a limb. So many questions we never get answers for.

She gets spayed the following day and the vet discovers some internal bleeding she believes was caused from some sort of blunt force trauma. We don't know what it was, we don't think she was hit by a car, but we really don't know. The bleeding was stopped and she was given vitamin K to help her clot.

After two days of being at The Litter Box, Opi was eating and using the litter box like a champ. But...she wouldn't pick up her tail. While petting her, someone hit a sore spot...twice. So we took her back to the vet. They took an xray and discovered she has a broken tail. She has use of her tail so the verdict is to give her pain meds and let it heal, we are not going to amputate. It would be nice for her to keep her tail.

So, scared and plastered up to a window, internal bleeding from some sort of trauma, and a broken tail. You would expect a very crabby cat. Not Opi, "Is that your lap?" she asks. She will curl up into the tiniest little ball and just purr purr and purr. She is an appreciative little thing, just happy to be inside and safe.

Are you ready to fall in love? Come visit Opi, she may be the one for you.
