Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This little guy’s name is Keegan. His breed is quite a mystery to us, but we’ve taken a guess and have gone with Spitz/Shiba Inu mix. Despite that mystery, this guy will be the love of his new owner’s life. He is only 15 pounds, estimated at 8 months old, super affectionate, wants to be a lap dog and he has the perfect energy for that activity. We feel that his adult weight will most likely be less than 20 pounds. He is a low energy, sweet and friendly boy.
Keegan was sitting at a city shelter and his time was ticking fast. He was scheduled to be put to sleep due to overcrowding at the shelter. This would have been a huge tragedy considering the lovely nature of this sweetheart. He was rescued in the nick of time and has been living at our boarding facility and adjusting to the life of being loved and cared for. He’s come so far already and we feel that it’s time now to allow someone else to enjoy this precious boy.
He is so easy going and gets along with everyone that he meets. He’s not overly engaged yet, but we feel like he is still adjusting to all of the major changes in his short life. He has met many dogs, cats, adults and children and is perfectly content with all of them. He loves to be held and he needs an owner that has time to dote on him regularly. He needs stability and an easy going lifestyle to be happy. He’s not one for a chaotic schedule. He doesn’t need a great deal of exercise, but could benefit from a couple of walks each day and some quality play time outdoors.
Keegan was just a pup when he arrived at the city pound and there’s no telling where he was prior to that, but we are certain that he wasn’t given proper socialization and wasn’t cared for to our standards. He is still learning basic puppy skills such as house training, crate training and leash walking. We are working with him on a daily basis to catch him up to where he needs to be, but he needs an owner that will continue his training, not get upset about an accident in the home and up for puppy challenges. His energy level is not that of a typical puppy at this point, but we feel that once he settles in and realizes that he won’t be bounced around anymore, he will open up and have a little more fun.
Keegan was neutered, microchipped and received his last round of vaccinations on March 17th. He is now all vetted and ready to find his new family. Keegan would do well in any family dynamic, but because he is a bit timid still and because he’s really small, very young children might intensify his nervousness. He would never hurt a child, but we worry about his development if he is constantly worried.
Keegan is available for adoption and his adoption fee fee is $250. If you feel that you have a little extra space in your lap and want a very devoted companion, Keegan is your little man. Please email us at adoptions@reggiesfriends.org for additional information or if you want to adopt this sweet boy.
