WHY IS HE IN NEED? - This poor little man is one of 11 pups that were removed from an uncertain situation.
He is only 6 wks old
WHERE IS HE NOW ?- He is being fostered in the Cambridge area.
He will be settling into his foster home- learning about crating, house training, leash exposure, walks etc.
He is living with multiple other dogs - small / large .
He will be vaccinated- dewormed- chipped at 8 wks.
His adoption fee will confirmed after he has seen the vet in 2-3 wks
** ALL ABOUT SPENCER **
Adoption fee $500 with $100 rebate at proof of neuter/ spay at appropriate age/ 6 months .
Spencer is a very sweet, lovable, smart little guy. Spencer has been in his new foster home for 2 weeks and has adapted great.
Spencer is 15 weeks and lives with 4 adults, 2 cats and a 4 year old male Shih Tzu (Deebo).
Pack mates:
- Spencer gets along with all pets in our household and respects them. When playing with Deebo (our dog) they chase each other at the same time Spencer will back away when Deebo does not want to play
- Spencer loves playing with toys and is not aggressive at all will share his toys with us and Deebo
Meal time:
- Spencer is fed 2 - 3 times a day, because he is a pup we leave his food down for the morning and than will pick up and put away till later in the afternoon and than in the evening around 7:00 his food is picked up and put away, this is to prevent any accidents during the night which is working out great.
- has no food aggression at all, he will allow us to put our hands in his food bowl while eating, has no problem helping himself to our cats food or Deebo's food :) . When feeding our cats and other dog we need to be near him guiding him away and bring him back to his own food.
House Trained:
- this little guy is doing amazing, he has gone from doing his business indoors 3-4 times a day to no accidents indoor
- he is let outside 15 mins after he eats and every 20 - 30 mins afterwards
- he is taken outside as soon as he wakes up from his naps or sleep.
- does whine at the door when he does need to go outside for pee or just to roam around
Spencer is still a pup so it is important to watch his body language, when he starts to sniff around he needs to go outside.
Bed Time:
- Spencer's down time is between 8:30/9:00 pm he will retreat to his bed in the carrel/pen we have in the living room and he is out like a light.
He is let outside around 10:00/10:30 for the last time when we are all ready for bed.
- Spencer does not like to sleep in his crate/carrel at night time, if he knows we are at home upstairs he will cry, We do not mind our pets sleeping on our bed so he is allowed which he sleeps at the foot of the bed, no fussing at all. Sleeps right through the night, he nudges us at 6:00 a.m. when he is ready to get up and go outside.
- He has also slept in his bed in our bedroom next to me
Crate/carrel:
- Spencer has learned when we are all leaving and put in his carrel/pen he does whine while you are walking out the door put has learned to settle in without barking, we do stand outside the door for a few mins and do not hear him. If he is put in while we are inside he will bark and cry.
- when someone is home our pets are left free in our home to be with us
- he will go in his pen on his own when he is tired or he just wants to chew on his bone or toys
Walks:
-Spencer is learning to walk on a leash without pulling, this is a work in progress again he is still a pup and will take a little more time. When walking with Deebo he likes to walk next to him and will follow what Deebo does.
- He is walked where there is a lot of different vehicles and noises and he is doing great
Strangers:
- Spencer will give a bark when he see's people approaching our door, but with a quick "stop" or once he sees that you are approaching the door he will stop, this is his way of warning us.
- does great with people or other dogs that come over, for a visit or play.
-We take him to our pet store to walk around and get used to others and different smells and he does great.
Commands:
- Spencer knows "leave it" "drop it" "come" "no", "outside", "walk" , "sit" "down" "up", he is a pup so he will try to take shoes, slippers or anything on the floor put with a firm "leave it" he will and will let you take it away
- Spencer is not allowed on the sofa unless asked to come up, because his little legs will not allow him to jump on his own, he will stand on his back legs with front paws on the sofa or us but unless he is asked to come up we direct him to get down.
- car rides, he does well when in our vehicles, he will whine for a few minutes but than settles in and does enjoy the ride.
Other information:
- Spencer loves playing with his buddy Deebo
- enjoys being outdoors.
- he loves being with his people, but is learning to be outside or in a room on his own as he knows we are not far or do come back
- he also loves to dig and he is a good digger, lol. he helps out in the garden when planting flowers..lol
- enjoys playing fetch and will bring the toy back to you for more, because of his short little legs he does get tired and will flop down, but rest assure after a few mins he is ready for more.
- learning how much fun it is playing in the little doggie pool, will go in and jump around.
Perfect Home:
I would like to see Spencer placed in a home with:
- another dog for Spencer to learn by and have a companion
or
- a home with children who will play with Spencer but IMPORTANT the children know they need to respect him (any pets) and not tease or scare Spencer, Respect is a MUST with children around and not left unattended
-home where he will not be left alone for more than 3 hrs as he is a very social pup and craves to be with his people.
This little guy is sweet, lovable and a great companion and joy to have in your home, if you are willing to continue training and loving him you will not be disappointed !
We welcome your application for consideration

PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT ADOPT OUT OF THE PROVINCE OF ONTARIO AND WILL NOT SHIP A PET!
*** HOW IT WORKS - ADOPTION INFORMATION ****
Please read ** ALL** the information provided below on the process to
save time and facilitate the process in a smooth manner.
The adoption fee does NOT cover the cost of vetting or supplies for these animals - If you cannot afford the adoption fee
(that is a fraction of actual REDUCED VETTING expenses incurred) then you should reconsider adopting.
These animals deserve forever homes, good food, regular vet care, and emergency care as needed.
Pets should never be euthanized by their owners simply based on financial consideration when something goes wrong.

http://www.adoptapet.lucknow.on.ca/applications.html--This is a MS Word copy of our application.
It can be completed, saved and emailed back to the rescue at
petrescue@hurontel.on.ca .

2. Only the approved app will be premitted a viewing with the pet ** in the foster home **
3. ALL family members MUST meet the dog ** in the foser home** .
4. Any exsisting pets MUST attend the meet/ greet with the dog ** at the foster home ** .
5. A home visit must be completed as part of the adoption process after the inital viewing by a rescue representative.
This is not a replacement of the meet/ greet at the Foster home.
6. We do not adopt outside of ONTARIO .
7. We do not deliver dogs. If and once the adoption process is approved and complete the dog must be picked up at the
foster home
****PLEASE DO NOT USE SKYE DRIVE OR COMPLETE THE APP TO FAX OR SCAN TO EMAIL IN AS WE ARE NOT ON A HIGH SPEED CONNECTION.
If you have any difficulties with the various application options please let us know @ petrescue@hurontel.on.ca
**** You must complete an adoption application in FULL in order for rescue to determine if the dog/cat is a good match for you and you are a good match for the Pet.
**** We do not show dogs /cats to people that merely want to drop in and look at the pet or see multiple pets **** .Not only are the pets fostered in various foster homes in various towns often hundreds of kilometres apart and not only do we simply do not have the manpower for that - more importantly it is unfair for the pet to be shown to various people and passed by - therefore we chose the most suitable application for the pet - then schedule a viewing.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
** ARE YOU FULLY COMMITTED ??????? .
Rescue values the time applicants put into filling out our application and the consideration of welcoming a new member into the family/ home.
Please be considerate to rescue AND volunteers when committing to a viewing.
Too many times rescue ends up making repeated changes d/t repeated delays for the approved applicant/ application. With delays - Rescue and pets are also impacted as rescue invests personal time around personal family time/ work time and cost of travel/ gas when arranging a viewing only to then have a late cancelation /applicants not even show up with no notification or even then have applicants back out .
Repeated delays hold up foster spots for pets in crisis and in turn it can cost them their lives!!.
**** PLEASE DON'T BE THE CAUSE OF AN ANIMAL IN NEED TO LOOSE THEIR LIFE D/T BEING OUT OF TIME **.
**** If we do not carefully screen where cats/ dogs are adopted to then the cycle would only continue when the ill-suited dog ends up back in the pound.
**** As it stand pounds are begging us to find space for healthy and adoptable dogs/ cats (who will be euthanized due to a simple lack of space) - So we Thank You in advance for respecting our successful process.

SAFE PLACEMENT FOR PET AND HOME
We welcome enquiries from applicants with well-behaved canines. Please do not apply if your dog has any possession aggression, or resource guards food/toys/space/owners, has leash aggression or aggression towards other dogs. This is for the safety of our foster dog/ cat and to ensure they do not become fear defensive.
We thank you for wanting to rescue a dog/ cat and simply ask that you address and correct your dog's issues before adding an adoptive animal in to the home. By allowing only well socialized and well trained pets to be considered as a possible forever home for our rescue dogs we are looking out for both our foster dog/ cat and your dog's own best interest. We also ask that if your cat is not used to having a dog around that you expose them to a family or friend's dog several times to see if they will accept a new family member within their home, before applying.
IF YOU FEEL YOUR CURRENT PACK IS STABLE & READY FOR A NEW MEMBER WE WELCOME YOUR INTEREST
Our rescue prides itself on adopting out the proper dog/cat to the proper family. If you would like to be considered for one of our dogs/cats please complete a adoption application as outlined in this bio.
If you are a successful applicant you will be asked to come to a viewing at the dog's/ cats foster home with your entire family, as well as your existing dog { if any }. This viewing will allow your family, the foster home and I to see if this is a suitable match.
We will all take 24 hours to mull it over and go from there. Adoptions are not rushed. Our priority is placing the dog/cat in the proper family. On intake a new dog/ cat is assessed in a foster home to determine which type of home suits them best.
We will give preference to any application that has the fortitude to take their newly adopted dog to training to bond or cat into a safe indoor enviroment and learn together from a professional as needed who has the dog's best interest at heart.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FOSTERING
If there are any dog/ cat lovers out there now is the time to step up - there are many on the short list to be killed in shelters all over due to simple lack of space - please consider helping now - dogs/ cats are killed every hour - they die by being jabbed thru the heart (heart-sticking) and being gassed to death more often than humane euthanization!
Here are some links with additional info-

If you are interested in fostering - please fill out the application here :
http://www.adoptapet.lucknow.on.ca/applications.html
We always need foster homes for the constant influx of new dogs/ cats in need - if you are interested in fostering - please consider that the rescue vets the cat /dog before they go in to foster care - they also provide a new dog collar and rescue i.d. tag on intake - as well as food - and any additional vetting needed thereafter the initial vetting.
We are happy to consider your home to foster an appropriate pet for your lifestyle if you are a believer in positive reinforcement and keeping cat indoors & dog on lead until recall and boundary trained, unless in a completely secure off leash area - We welcome foster homes in the Guelph/ Kitchener/Cambridge to London to Durham to Goderich area.
Please contact the rescue via email at petrescue@hurontel.on.ca
For more info if you are interested in fostering - again we do ask that you complete our application so we know your expectations and can match with you a dog/cat that suits.
