Brooke's personal update:
He-Roh!! My name is Brooke, but my Foster Mom and Dad call me Brookie Brooke. They told me that I’m a mix – they think part German Shepherd and part Border Collie which gives me my awesome unique floppy ear. And to tell you the truth, who wants to look like everyone else? How B-O-R-I-N-G!!!
Although I am a bit shy when I first meet people, I have the double whammy brain of both a German Shepherd AND a Border Collie which makes me super smart so I don’t need any training and don’t get into anything I’m not supposed to; unlike one of my Foster Sisters’ who likes to get in the trash – I’m just sayin....
I am a very calm dog that will quietly come up to you and give you a quick kiss or two and bat my baby-golden eyes patiently waiting for a scratch behind my ear or under my chin.
Now don’t get me wrong – I do love to play especially with other dogs and I love to go for walks. My Foster Sisters are old and crotchety; my Foster Mom says just like my Foster Dad tee hee hee! That’s one of the reasons I’d like to find my Furever home where I can spend the next 10-11 years with my Furever Family romping, playing, taking naps, chasing squirrels, and most of all protecting them. I forgot to mention that I’m a great watch dog – as my Foster Mom is partial to German Shepherds, she says that’s the German Shepherd side of me, the chasing squirrels but-not- hurting-them is the Border Collie in me. Won’t you consider adopting me and making me part of your family?

Brooke was adopted 3 years ago, but was returned back to the rescue because the owners were not home enough and did not have the tolerance or time to work with her shyness. She is a wonderful dog with a sweet temperament. She is loyal and an overall great companion in every way. She would be a great running or walking mate. She would also enjoy training class but really doesn't need it for she is easy to train and loves to please her person. Black dogs have the highest euthanasia rate at the shelters. But not this girl, she is special and deserves to have a second chance despite what her odds were. She is ready to move on.

Her black coat is stunningly beautiful. She is fully vetted, healthy, spayed and micro-chipped. She has been an easy foster using the doggie door perfectly and can be loose in the home without worry. She gets along well with almost every dog she has ever met which means she is a balanced dog that can be trusted.

Today, Brooke is not the overly shy, nervous girl that initially came to her foster home. She is a sweet, happy but somewhat reserved girl; content to lay by the window or outside when her foster family is out, go for walks and loves car rides. She also is still a little hesitant when new people come to visit, but given time, usually comes up to them and gently asks for a pet by softly giving a lick on their hand or arm to get their attention.

She is well mannered, good with all dogs and children, is house trained, is not destructive, gently takes food from your hand and will sit patiently to get her treat. We have not figured out exactly what makes her cute little lazy ear stand up but it does. It is only one of her more endearing qualities.

Brooke still has many years left and needs her own family, please consider giving her a second chance!
