Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Well hello there, thanks for looking in on me… My name is Mocha, and I’m a six-week-old (03/12/15) Labrador Retriever/Australian Shepherd Mix, with a lovely face, an impish manner, and a sweet personality (I’m not bragging that is really what my foster mom says). My tan fur is soft, short, and feathered with black, and a long black tail, floppy ears, and an inquisitive look. Even though I was weaned too young, I am healthy, well-proportioned and sturdy. I am curious, very playful and active, and love playing with the other pups in the rescue. I’ve never met a cat but I’m sure I would love them. I arrived with my sister, Taffy, and she and I could be adopted together if you wanted two love bugs in your home, and really, who would not?!
I like people - young and old, but my rescue prefers to adopt us rescues to families with children six years and older, not little ones. I’m a quiet girl and I want to please my humans any way I can. My all-time favourite things in the world are to be scratched behind my ears and having my belly rubbed. I am sorry that I’m not housebroken but I am just a baby, after all. I learn commands quickly and with a firm, gentle owner, I could learn all the neat things that you want in a dog – housebreaking, walking on a leash, and snuggling real close.
Even though I’m just learning to live with humans, and in a house, I know I would enjoy an active, loving family whether it’s a single person or a family with older children, as long as they would spoil me and make me part of their lives forever.
I just had my puppy shots and got checked out for all sorts of things, but the vet says I am in great shape, and that she’ll keep looking after me until I’m adopted. I am just a baby so I’m not spayed yet, and if you adopt me, you must commit to having me spayed when I turn six months old. The lady who runs the rescue that took me in, asks for a bigger fee to make sure that this happens (I think the lady has trust issues, just sayin). All that to say that my adoption fee is $150, with $50 returned to you once you show proof that I can’t make babies that might be abandoned like I was. Now to the boring stuff, my rescue people want you to read the following so that you know what the rules are if you want to adopt me… and who would not want to.
For more information on Mocha, please contact Louise Vande Wiele at louisevdew@gmail.com and we will respond as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, get to know our process by reading the following.
Anyone wanting to adopt a dog from the RARFS is expected to fill out an adoption application, provide references, sign an adoption contract, agree to a home visit, and finally to pay an adoption fee. Once the application is received, references checked, and a home visit completed, and everything is satisfactory, families can take their new family member home. Should a dog adopted from RARFS need to be rehomed, we ask that the dog be returned to us, or that we approve the new home. We have a no questions asked return policy, but fees will not be reimbursed.
Families who rent must provide a letter from their landlord stating that they are allowed to have a dog listing any size or breed restriction.
We prefer that families come and pick up their new family member, but a licensed pet transport is available. Should we need to transport dogs to their new homes, the adopter will need to pay $150 per dog, to the transport company.
