My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tanner radiates happy awesomeness. He also gets an A+ for his social skills since he seems to love all people and has done great with other dogs. Tanner has had some basic training under his belt and everyone falls in love with Tanner's good looks and nice manners.

Tanner is estimated to be about 1 year old. He has a few pounds to gain and will likely weigh about 60lbs once nicely filled out. We have no idea what Tanner's breed mix is. However, he has the elegant long legs of a Saluki or similar type hound and the expressive ears, gentle loving face and coloring of a golden retriever.

If Tanner were a human, we imagine he would be the type to hold the door for old ladies and give up his seat on the bus for someone more in need. Tanner will also charm the ladies and befriend your pals. He has made it his mission in life to befriend everyone he meets, so be ready for a social butterfly. In fact, he has even managed to get one of the older, grumpy dogs in his foster home to fall for his charming ways.

Tanner is an energetic but very well-behaved guy. He knows when it's time to have fun and when it's time to rest. He needs a home where he can get daily exercise such as a walk/jog or playtime with other dogs. If you live in an apartment, he should do fine, but does need some outlets daily for his energy. Tanner likes being out in public with people and other dogs so would be the perfect kind of dog to take out on the patio of your favorite restaurant, out to your favorite cafe' for a cup of coffee or even to your place of business if your work is keen on that.

Tanner can SIT and lay DOWN on command, he also walks very nicely on leash and does not jump up for attention. Overall, he has impeccable manners. He is crate-trained and is house-trained. He does just fine in his crate when you are away for a while and thinks it's the perfect napping spot to wait for you return. At night, he sleeps on a dog bed, uncrated in his foster home and does fine. Tanner is a genuinely all around nice dog who should blend in easily to most homes who want a canine pal to explore the world with. He does, however, think cats make fun toys to chase, so needs a home without any feline friends.

Tanner's adoption fee is only $75, he is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and current on heartworm and flea-preventative. If you would like to learn more about Tanner or schedule to meet him, email us at ADOPT@MARCPets.org.
