My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Diesel, a handsome six month old (15-03-06) male, Labrador/Poodle mix. He arrived a starving, emaciated puppy and is now growing into a well-proportioned dog. Although he had a terrible start in life, he is remarkably well adjusted and always calmly happy. He currently stands knee high on an average adult, and is quite sturdy.

A laid back puppy, Diesel is loving, happy, and undemanding. He has a lovely face with unique markings including a darker V between his brows making him look quite serious. Although quite happy on his own, Diesel loves the other puppies in the rescue, and plays constantly with them. He has a great personality and does not tend to bark unless he is outdoors and wants back in. He doesn’t jump up, and waits for attention rather than demanding it. Diesel loves to be petted and cuddled, and belly rubs are a favourite. Diesel knows he’s not a lapdog, and stays on the floor; he’s growing quickly and promises to be a large adult male.

As with all puppies, Diesel will need a firm hand until he is fully trained. He is young and still displays puppy behaviour, chews yummy forbidden objects, sometimes forgets housebreaking rules, and is learning to walk on a leash, thankfully he’s quickly learning what’s expected of him. We provide him with many chew toys and bones, and he is always carrying something with him. His quiet, calm temperament means that when he's played out, he is quite happy laying and playing on his bed while his foster mom works. At night he calmly goes to sleep in his crate. Diesel loves everyone – young and old, and gets along with dogs, but has never met a cat. He’s received his first sets of puppy vaccines, and will be neutered in the next week. He will be vetted as needed until he is adopted. Diesel’s adoption fee is $150.

For more information on Diesel, please contact Louise Vande Wiele at louisevdew@gmail.com and we will respond as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, please read the following so that you are aware of our process, and that you agree to it, before asking to adopt one of our rescues.
Anyone wanting to adopt a dog from the RARFS is expected to fill out an adoption application, provide references, sign an adoption contract, agree to a home visit, and finally to pay an adoption fee. Once the application is received, references checked, and a home visit completed, and everything is satisfactory, families can take their new family member home. Should a dog adopted from RARFS need to be rehomed, we ask that the dog be returned to us, or that we approve the new home. We have a no questions asked return policy, but fees will not be reimbursed.

Families who rent must provide a letter from their landlord stating that they are allowed to have a dog listing any size or breed restriction. We prefer that families come and pick up their new family member, but a licensed pet transport is available. Should we need to transport dogs to their new homes, the adopter will need to pay $150 per dog, to the transport company.
