Here's what the humans have to say about me:
FOSTER LOCATION: Brigham City, UT
Mini Max! This little guy is something different! He is an 8 year old, mini dachshund mix, if he wasn’t so small we’d think he was part basset hound; whatever he is he is super cute!
Max has proved that not only is he totally adorable he is wonderful with children, love adults and is great with other dogs. He's unsure about cats; they tend to scare him if they surprise him, but if they run he chases. If he has to walk past the cats in his foster home to get where he's going, he cries! He'd probably do ok with the right cat though. Max is a very mellow little guy. He doesn't do much but hang around with his friends!
We were told by Max's previous owners that he was born with a funny walk. Which happens to make him look even more like a basset hound! Max cannot run! His maximum speed could maybe be considered a jog, maybe! He has a hard time jumping up onto anything, which is good because when Max was about two years old, he "slipped a disc" in his back. He will always be at risk for hurting his back again so he has some rules. Our vet says he shouldn't be allowed to jump down off of anything. This is a big risk to his fragile back. He tweaked it once since he's been with us and all it took was an anti-inflammatory for a couple of days. But it will be important to keep some on hand and if it's bad, get him to a vet immediately.
Max is very sensitive. He doesn't like to be grabbed or yanked. He walks nicely on a leash but should use a harness because collars make him cough. And he will need a couple dog beds. He loves them!
Max is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped
