My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ruby Tuesday has been taken to a high-kill shelter TWICE -- and she'll never tell you where she came from. She's been so close to death twice and saved on the nick of time. Yet this sweet and beautiful dog hasn't found the guardian that will give her the forever home. Sad, isn't? Her beautiful and sad face has a story to tell -- and she will tell it to you if you take her home. But this time it has to be a forever home where Ruby will sit next to you on a laizy summer afternoon, the birds singing in the background, and she'll tell you about dreams and why we must catch them before they slip away.

Ruby needs that very special person that will help her heal the wounds in her big heart and trust humans again. Ruby is three years old and weights 68 lbs. She has a beautiful mahogany brindle coat and amber eyes. We don't really know what her breed is and couldn't care less. Labrador... pitbull... catahoula... rat terrier, whatever -- It is Ruby the dog that we love.

Ruby needsa guardian tthat will help her get rid of her anxiety and work with her to make her the confident dog she must have been once when she believed all humans were good and kind to animals. Her anxiety is probably a result of her being abandoned by her families and dumped in a shelter. Ruby has lost her sense of security. As a result, she is very attached to her foster mom and has become very protective of her. Who can blame her? Her foster mom has made her feel at home and has provided her with comfort, love and security that she is so desperately seeking. Ruby loves hanging out with her, getting belly rubs, lying at her feet and is so happy just to be in her foster mom’s presence. This is the kind of dog you will get if you decide to adopt her. A great companion, someone who loves, trusts and protects you. We want to find a permanent or foster home for Ruby ASAP before she gets more attached to her current foster mom who would love to keep her but can't because she works very long hours and can't provide the attention that Ruby needs to be rehabilitated.

The ideal home for Ruby is a quiet, adult home where she is not being left alone for extended periods of time until she overcomes her separation anxiety. Her new foster or owner has to be a dog savvy person and a good pack leader who is willing to work with her anxiety and protectiveness. All the work to find the right situation for Ruby will be well worth it and the best thing for Ruby. Ruby will show her appreciation by showering you with love and showing you every opportunity she gets how happy she is to be in a loving home with someone that is home for a good part of the day with her. Ruby is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.

Please consider adopting this beautiful dog or providing her a foster home. Contact Ruby's rescue at 646-678-6501.
