Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Tiger Lilly is a super special girl needing a very precious and special home. One of our foster moms was at an adoption event for an animal control shelter that was very high kill and she saw Tiger Lilly there in a crate in the parking lot. She was starved half to death and only weighed 40 lbs. We could see all of her bones. We adopted her from the adoption event and brought her to her foster home. We didnt realize when we put her in the large outdoor fenced area that we wouldn't be able to get close enough to touch her. She was terrified of everyone. She made friends with the other dog in her big enclosure and would play with her and have a great time but whenever we would approach the pen she would hide in or behind the dog house or the bushes. We started letting her out into the big acre fenced area once a day with her playmate and she did well. She would run back into her pen when her playmate did. After five months of this she was out playing and I was walking in the yard doing some yard work. I felt a bump behind me and it was her bumping me and then running away. After about three weeks of this she would take a treat out of my hand as she bumped me from behind. Then after another two weeks she would slowly come over and take treats from my hand.
She has never snapped or offered to bite or even growled. She is terrified of men.
In the middle of all of this we had a house fire and we had to be out of our home and in a hotel for three months while it was repaired. We moved Tiger Lilly and her playmate Heather to another great foster home to care for them. It is also an outdoor foster home with a huge fenced area and a huge dog house for them.
We are hoping that there is an all female home out there with a TON of patience and a very controlled fenced environment so that they wont accidentally lose her in the process of letting her get used to them. This girl is SO WORTH IT! But it will take her new family a very long time to get her to feel safe. She now weighs a very healthy 63 lbs. She is not food aggressive in the least. She loves to play with other dogs. We want to make sure that anyone that applies for her is in it for the long haul. If they lose her they will never catch her and neither will anyone else. Her life is precious and she deserves a good home of her own. Tiger Lilly has a reduced adoption fee if we can find someone that we think will be great for her! Please apply if you are THIS KIND OF A HOME. If you're not, we thank you for taking the time to read about this special girl :)
