Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Aimee's adoption fee is $350.
Aimee is a 6 year old Shih Tzu (approximately 13 pounds) who has been through a lot in her short life. She was found in rough shape wandering the streets but is now ready for her forever family. Aimee is a really sweet, funny, and happy girl. It's actually pretty amazing at how laid back she is about most things, she's the calmest dog I've ever met. She adapts very easily to new places, people and situations, wags her tail and happily greets every person she meets.
She is housetrained and can be left alone during a normal working day; she has the full run of the house and there haven't been any issues in our home. She’s great in the car, just lies down on the seat or looks out the window. She knows a lot of commands like sit, stay, come, go outside, come up (for the couch), no begging, and out of the kitchen (she learned that one from our own dog probably). She doesn't try to run if a door is open, she's actually slow paced and relaxed most of the time even though she has a moderate amount of energy. Her favourite thing to do is play and she would be best in a home with another gentle, playful dog. She isn't hyper, but isn't the type to sleep a whole day away and will try to keep busy, though she loves couch naps and will be happy to hang out in her bed if everyone is relaxing. She absolutely loves her stuffed toys and will carry one around with her often, especially when she is excited. She’ll greet you with one in the morning, when you come home, and after she comes back from a walk.
Aimee loves her walks and is a perfect lady on a leash; she also enjoys hanging out in the backyard. As long as she gets a good amount of stimulation and exercise she should be fine in an apartment. We haven't seen her with cats, but she doesn't seem to have a prey drive and is respectful of boundaries with other dogs that aren't as social as she is, so she would probably be ok with one. Although she's almost a perfect dog, her future family will have to help her with a couple of phobias. She really doesn't like having her picture taken, she will run away from a camera or bark at it, but is curious about it if it's not pointed at her, so given time, treats, and some patience I'm sure she will get over this. She also doesn't like to be groomed and will bark at scissors or a hair dryer but will tolerate a bath, and has learned that ear cleaning is not so bad as long as there is a treat involved. Given her love of food, and some patience, she will learn that hair cutting is not so bad either as we've already made some progress. Rough handling would also stress her out so she would be best in a home with older children. That being said though, her future family will be amazed at how well behaved she is and will love her trusting, affectionate, and comical personality; she's one of a kind and will quickly steal your heart.
