Here's what the humans have to say about me:
If you are a terrier lover looking for a smart little buddy, you have to look at Luke. Luke is a Smooth Fox Terrier. He has great markings and some of the best ears I’ve seen in a while. Luke is 4 years old and is at his perfect weight of 18 lbs.
Luke came to us when his previous owner became ill and went to a care center. Luke is used to being an only dog, but he is getting along well with his foster home’s other resident dogs. He does prefer to leave some space between him and them though. He does attach to people though. He isn’t the type of dog that wants to be in your lap or give you kisses but he will bump your hand to give him some pets. He likes to play with you, but we are still trying to find a toy that interests him. His favorite type of playing is chase. If you even act like you are going to chase him he gets excited and runs away and comes back to you asking for you to chase him. He likes to go outside, but he isn’t much of a fan of the really cold weather right now. But I bet in warmer weather he would love to be outside playing in a fenced yard and taking long walks.
Luke doesn’t seem to have had any formal training so we are working on basic commands like sit and stay. But he does have very good house manners. He is housebroken and doesn’t chew or get into things. He is pretty quiet except when it is dinner time and he just wants his food already. He will let you know when the water bowl is empty by pushing it around the floor. He goes to the door and paws at it when he wants to go out. If you are a first time dog owner or want a little buddy to spend time with Luke would be a good choice. He is probably not going to be your current dog’s best new buddy, he would rather buddy up with humans.
Luke has been well taken care of his entire life. He came to us up to date on his vaccinations, neutered and heartworm negative. He is also microchipped. He is a happy, healthy dog looking for a new start. If you think Luke could be your new best friend, please start the adoption process by filling out our adoption application that can be found on our website, www.furfunrescue.org. If you would like more information about Luke you can contact lynette@furfunrescue.org. Adopters within an hour travel time from Cedar Rapids, IA only, please.
