Butch is a young, energetic, large (75 pounds) 2 year old mix breed dog. Until his recent rescue, Butch spent his life on a short chain attached to a truck in a junk yard with no protection from elements, with a bucket open to rain to fill it with water and strangers throwing food for him across the fence. But amazingly he came out without any physical or emotional damage.
After his dramatic rescue Butch was boarded for a month in Assisi Animal hospital in Malvern, LI and then for another month in North Shore Animal hospital in Bayside, Queens. In both hospitals they found him to be a very social and wonderful dog. Julio Rivera, behaviorist/trainer, who was instrumental in Butch’s rescue, was coming to each hospital and taking him for training sessions. Butch has learned basic commands very quickly and Julio was delighted with Butch’s intelligence, loyalty and response to training.
Currently Butch is boarded in a private home where his training continues and where he has earned the same great reputation as in both hospitals. He loves and needs to play his ball - with you, with his fellow dogs, or even by himself. He also loves to roll over and have his belly rubbed. Butch has shown no aggression to anyone, but because he is a high energy strong dog of large size, we recommend him to a home with no small animals, such as cats, toy dogs etc. and with no kids below 13 years old.
Butch is neutered, vaccinated and in excellent health - but he still has his health insurance and he is microchipped. If you are interested to adopt this good-looking and smart fellow, please contact:
