My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet our sweet and irresistible Landon. He is a Staffordshire terrier pup that was rescued on the day he was going to be euthanized at the city pound. His time was up and thankfully we were able to save his life because he’s a precious boy and will make an excellent addition to a loving, active family.

Landon is about 6 months old and currently 30 pounds. We estimate that his full adult weight will be about 45 pounds, so medium sized, but on the smaller side for his breed. His coat is nearly solid white with an occasional spot here and there. The dots on his nose are so cute; it just makes you want to kiss him.

He is SUPER affectionate with people and other dogs. He lives with cats in his foster home and doesn’t bother them at all. He would be great as an only dog or even adding to a pack. He started out as a big Mama’s boy for his foster mom when he was first rescued, but he’s been with her for nearly 2 months now and he’s gained confidence and has really become more independent in such a short time. He’s pretty good on his leash now after some good practice and he’s about 90% potty trained. He could use more training and practice on both, but that’s typical with a young puppy. He sleeps in his crate every night, so he is used to it and doesn’t mind it at all.

Everybody has at least one quirk and Landon’s is that he needs to be fed separately from the other pets. This can be a common issue for a dog that learned at an early age that food can be hard to find on the streets. He doesn’t have any issues playing with toys or having treats around the other dogs. His absolute favorite chew toy is a moose antler and it will keep him busy for a good long while, but he also loves all toys. He loves to run, play and stay active. His energy level is described as medium to high, but he loves to snuggle after a good day of fun too. He would be a fantastic trail hiker, running partner and tag along for all adventures. His size is perfect for all of these activities too. He’s good in the car, so traveling could also on his bucket list.

One reason that Landon was placed on the euthanasia list is because he had non-contagious Demodex mange when he was at the shelter. We have been treating since he came into our program and he went from being a bald baby to having a beautiful white coat in just 8 weeks. His treatment is super easy and he should be completely healed within a couple of weeks. We provide any medications that are needed if he has a flare up and once healed, it generally is gone for good. Because he has more sensitive skin as a solid white dog, we must keep Landon on a grain-free, high quality food to ensure that he stays healthy both inside and out.

Landon is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. He is ready to start his life and start working on his bucket list of adventures. If you are looking for an active, fun and affectionate companion, you really can’t go wrong with Landon. He is currently in a foster home in Houston, Texas, but is available for out of state adoption. His adoption fee is $450, which includes his airline flight, new travel kennel, comfy bed and his required travel documents. The crate and bed are yours to keep upon his arrival. Please email us at adoptions@reggiesfriends.org if you are interested in adoption our boy or if you would like more information about him.
