Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Updated bio 2/17/15 --Mikey is an adorable 10.2 pound little guy. He is about 7 years old and is being fostered in Leesburg, FL.
Mikey is just about over his kennel cough. He will still need to be on some additional medication for the next 10 days since his trachea is still showing some signs of irritation from the cough. He is now up to date on all his vaccinations. He is heart worm negative and has been started on his heartworm and flea preventative. He will be getting his dental in two weeks after the cough is cleared up.
Mikey has come such a long way. He is not yet fully house trained, but he is getting there. His foster mom puts a belly band on him sometimes in the house, but his accidents with no belly band on are becoming less and less. Mikey has learned he is not the boss and he does not get to be in charge. He now no longer jumps up to get food when his foster mom and dad are at the table. He has learned to sit and to not grab, but to take things gentle from a person's hand. He understand what NO means and will respond. His tendency to be aggressive has been reduced to almost nothing. His foster parents still have work to do with him, but Mikey is very smart and a quick learner.
Mikey loves to be with people and when he can't see them he gets upset. He hates to be crated. Mikey needs someone home much of the time, who will be with him, and not leave him alone in the crate for hours at a time. He really would do best as an only dog. He loves to go on walks and is great on a leash, so he does not need a fenced yard, but someone ready and able to take him on good long walks a few times a day. He is great in the car and really wants to sleep on the bed with his people.
Mikey needs a strong leader or he will attempt to take over and be your leader. If you would like to be Mikey's leader and make this sweet, loving, and totally amazing fellow your friend and partner, please fill out an application for him. He'll be your best friend forever.
Initial Bio 1-29-15 Mikey is the cutest little 9 year old, 10 pound yorkie. He is being fostered in Leesburg, FL.
Mikey has just come into United Yorkie Rescue. We already know a little about him. We do know he has kennel cough that will be treated right away. He is neutered and is just absolutely adorable. He is very friendly and full of energy. Although the shelter said he was 9 years old, he looks and acts so much younger. We know he hates to be crated and needs to be with his people.
Mikey will have his first vet visit tomorrow. He will be vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for dry skin and for his kennel cough. We hope he will be heartworm negative.
It is very likely Mikey won't be able to go to his forever home for several weeks until his kennel cough is cleared up.
Look for more information on Mikey coming after his vet visit.
