Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, Folks! It’s Barney here and I am finally able to let you know about me. I wanted to write in a couple of weeks ago but my foster mom wanted me to wait until I was all better. Well, that day is finally here and thanks to the great vets that GRFR sent me to, my cough is all gone and I am, as my foster mom says, full of beans. So, a bit about me to start. I am a nine week old male retriever mix. The vet said she thinks that I have a newfie face. I don’t know any newfies but I think that might be a good thing. I have been in Colorado for a couple weeks now and am loving that white stuff they call snow. I like to jump up and twirl and then land in the snow—how much fun is that! I do love being outside and heard my foster mom telling some GRFR people that I am very agile and athletic. Not sure what that means exactly but I am good at rock climbing and jumping. I can also go up and down stairs all by myself. It is a little scary but I don’t want my humans to leave me behind so I just try to be brave. When I am in the house I am a pretty calm little guy who loves to snuggle. I am getting pretty good at pottying outside and at sleeping through the night, except when I need to go potty and then I let my humans know. My foster brother Hurley lets me use his giant doggy door. He is a St. Bernard and so it is really big but I can push it right open and get through. I love playing with my toys but my very favorite game is to jump up and get the dish towels that are hanging by the sink. Man, are they fun to play with. Paper towels are also pretty exciting but I don’t have too many chances to grab those. So, if you saw my picture on the GRFR website when I first got to Colorado you probably thought I was pretty cute with all of that fluffy hair on my face. Well, sad to tell you but a lot of that hair has fallen out because I was sick. It will all grow back but right now I do look a bit different than my picture from a few weeks ago. So, it I sound like I might be a good match for your family please let the wonderful folks at GRFR know and maybe you can be my forever family!
Barney is currently recovering from domedetic mange. This is a noncontagious form of mange. He's being treated with ointments and medicated baths.

Please remember that GRFR adopts puppies to forever families who have sufficient time at home to socialize, housetrain and nurture their new puppy. Also note: puppies should not leave your yard or be exposed to any other dogs unless you are certain that such other dogs have been fully vaccinated and are older than six months. They should not go to parks or PetSmart or anywhere else until they have their last booster shot, as they cold contract a potentially lethal virus. Before taking your puppy to puppy class please discuss vaccination requirements for various classes with your trainer or vet. Puppies often need a few dewormers and we encourage you to discuss this with your vet. For more information, please take a look at www.goldenretrieverfreedom.org. Please review the adoption requirements before submitting an application.
