Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, my name is Daphne! I'm a 6 year old bichon frise who was rescued from a commercial breeding facility that was closing its doors. I'm a petite little girl weighing just about 10 1/2 lbs. Since being rescued, I've been enjoying all the wonderful things in this great big world that I missed while living in a cage producing puppies for the pet industry. I'm learning about toys and how awesome it is to sleep on soft beds and blankets and eat nutritious food. I enjoy cuddling with all the other doggies at my foster home and really need to go to a home with another dog for me to cuddle and play with. After all, in the breeding facility, that's all I knew was being with other dogs. i'm getting more and more trusting of the people in my foster home. At first I was very scared when they tried to pick me up and would be very tense when they held me. You see in these breeding facilities, no one ever gives us any tender loving attention. It's all about getting the job done of producing puppies for pet stores. So this kindness being shown to me by my foster family is all new to me, but I'm sure starting to like it!
Since being rescued, I've been spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested (negative), dewormed, vaccinated, and had a dental cleaning. I'm being fed a high-quality food that doesn't contain any corn, wheat, soy, meat by-products or other low-quality ingredients, and I hope my new family will continue to feed me a high-quality food for the rest of my life. I'm being fostered in Barneveld, WI, and my adoption fee is $300. If you're interested in adopting me, please email Margaret at loveforbichons@gmail.com and request an application.
The adoption process with Safe Haven Bichon and Friends Rescue includes an application, reference checks, and a home visit. We do not ship dogs on planes or send them on transports. Adopters need to come to the foster home to adopt.
