My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sophie is a very pretty adoptable dachshund sweetheart in Colorado. She is 8 years old and slightly overweight at 19.9 pounds. She has been doing great with portion control, walks and limited snacks and now has a visible waistline. Sophie is dog friendly and has been good meeting new people with proper introductions. She lived with a kitten before coming to rescue and did well in that situation. Sophie loves to play fetch, chew on her squeaky toys, and recharge with naps. She is also very content to curl up in your lap and hang out for an entire afternoon. Sophie is good on leashed walks. New experiences can be intimidating to her; in such situations patience and encouragement are all that is needed. Once she learns her new environment and new family Sophie will be all about belly rubs. Her ideal COLORADO home will have a fenced yard and another small dog companion or a pet guardian willing to take her for walks and to play with her. Sophie is house trained if not made to wait for long hours. To continue Sophie’s housetraining success her adopter will ideally be home more than gone or will have a midday dog walker for her.
