Marty had an interesting birth. Their mother was hugely pregnant when she was picked up as a stray and brought to the shelter. Allie was bone thin and really needed to come to rescue to have her six puppies. They were born into rescue only two days after we brought her to St. Louis from Arkansas. They were born on February 9 making them about 15 weeks old right now (May 22). Their mother is a well mixed dog but is red in color, weighs about 20 pounds and most folks guess her to be a corgi mix. Marty has a very cool cream colored wire haired coat and long legs. He's a cute puppy but he is going to be an awesome looking dog. We think that he will be bigger than his mom when he is grown, certainly taller. The rule of thumb is that you double a puppy's weight at 16 weeks to get some indication of their adult weight. Marty is 15 weeks old now and weighs 12 1/2 pounds so we think that about 25, possibly 30 pounds is a good guess as to his eventual size. He is learning his potty manners very well and responds to positive reinforcement with a vengence.
The adoption fee for Marty is $250. Each of our dogs is up to date on all shots, including rabies, spayed or neutered, microchipped, fecal tested for internal parasites, treated if necessary, tested for heartworm, treated if necessary, on heartworm preventative and we also take care of dentals or any other medical needs they may have. With your dog, you will receive a health booklet detailing everything that we have done to be sure that they are in the best of health and all spiffed up to be your treasured pet.
