Here's what the humans have to say about me:
KIRBY: Kirby was originally surrendered to WAG as an older kitten three years ago. Even as a kitten, we could see that he was a real character. He was adopted by a wonderful couple who adored him. Unfortunately, the wife passed away, and the husband is quite ill now and unable to care for Kirby, so Kirby is back with WAG and looking for a home again.
Now 4 years old, Kirby is even more of a character. He has never met a stranger and is a life-of-the-party kind of guy. He loves it when you will play with him. He is very smart and entertaining: for example, Kirby lived with dogs in his former home. The dogs were peaceful, older dogs who knew that the cat was off-limits. Every night when the dogs would get their dinner, Kirby would sit next to them. When his owner wasn't looking, Kirby would sneakily slide the dogs' food dish over, closer and closer, until he could reach in and eat the dogs' food. The poor dogs used to sit there and watch him, powerless to do anything about it. And every time his owner would look over, Kirby would be sitting there, looking angelic, the empty food bowl mysteriously right in front of him. That's our Kirby: he will keep you smiling -- or laughing -- all the time.
When he's not up to his antics, Kirby is very affectionate: his thinks that laps were made just for him, and if you want to carry him everywhere, he isn't going to complain. He loves kids, but we think he would be best with kids who are old enough to interact with him: he’d love kids who will play with him, and we suspect he would tolerate being dressed up a bit. Needless to say, he is used to living with dogs. He was an only cat in his previous home, so we're thinking he should stay that way. And he still looks like he ran into a paintbrush!
Like all WAG animals, Kirby is neutered and fully up-to-date on vet care. WAG only accepts applications from New Hampshire residents and from residents of communities in Maine, Vermont, and Massachusetts that are on the New Hampshire border. If you are interested in applying to adopt Kirby, a WAG adoption application can be found at http://www.wearewag.org/adopt.htm.
