Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Miss Maya is such a beautiful and happy girl, but was found as a stray. She has a fantastic personality, one that many would call “the typical Lab” and we love it. She is incredibly affectionate, happy, outgoing and most notably, she looks for acceptance from her humans. We know that her perfect family is out there and we can’t wait until they find her and she can begin her happily ever after story.
Maya is about 3-4 years old and about 55 pounds of pure Labrador fun and love. She is active and enjoys playing outside and getting involved in any activity, but can also be found lounging and waiting for some popcorn on movie night. She is doing very well with leash walking and would be a fantastic walking or hiking companion. We think that she could be trained quite easily for off leash hikes and bike rides too. She’s already house and kennel trained, so it will be an easy transition into her new home.
Maya loves to hang out with her dog friends and seems to enjoy larger dogs to smaller ones. She tolerates the cats pretty well outside, but she’d rather not hang out with them for very long. She LOVES to play with nice, loving kids and would really enjoy having several to play with in her future either as siblings or neighbor friends.
As with most Labradors, Maya is a smart, loving, family friendly type of dog and would love nothing more than to have a good life where she can be a member of the family. We don’t think she’s ever been included like that before, but she’s so worthy of it. She’s envisioning morning drives to take the kids to school, movie nights on the couch and dog parks on the weekends.
Sadly nobody was taking care of Maya’s needs as a pet owner should and she has heartworms, a common condition in areas that are densely populated with mosquitos. Her vet has already started her treatment plan and we expect to have a negative test within 6 to 12 months. Her medications will be provided to her adopter and it only needs to be given twice monthly. The heartworms do not limit her activity or her personality in the least, nor is this a contagious issue, so she hopes that the mistake of her former owner and this one imperfection won’t discourage her potential fans from adopting her.
All of her vaccinations are up to date, she is spayed and microchipped. Maya is being fostered in Houston, Texas and her adoption fee is $200 if adopted in the Houston area. She is also available for out of state adoption because she can be flown to your area via United Airline’s Pet Safe Program. If adopted outside of Houston, her adoption fee is $400, which covers her adoption fee, airline flight, travel crate, kennel bed and required health papers to travel.
If you are in the market for a beautiful, smart, kind hearted, new furry family member…look no further. Maya is the one!
