Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Rusty, a year old, male, wire-haired terrier mix. He was found in the woods with his brother, Sherman, who's also up for adoption. Rusty is an alert dog with a lovely face and great personality. He thinks that being loved is the very best thing in the world and enjoys getting petted and cuddled. He sports a coarse, strawberry blonde double coat, soft dark eyes, a shortish muzzle, black nose and floppy ears. Rusty is a medium sized, low shedding dog that is comfortable in any setting - rural, urban, apartment or house, but needs regular exercise. But as with both breeds - he can be stubborn and will need a firm hand until he is fully trained. He stands knee high on an average adult, and is healthy and quite sturdy.
Rusty is a submissive dog but enjoys playing with others dogs, and running all over the yard with them, however this cuddly couch potato soon wants to come back in the house and snooze. He’s young so still displays puppy behaviour, sometimes forgets the housebreaking rules, and doesn't care for the leash, but he is learning well. Rusty's temperament is quiet and calm, and he is quite happy laying and playing on his bed while his foster mom works. He is not a barker, and looks at you lovingly when he wants your attention. He is obedient and wants to please. We have no idea how he is with cats or very young children. He is neutered and up to date on shots.
Anyone wanting to adopt a dog from the RARFS is expected to fill out an adoption application, provide references, sign an adoption contract, agree to a home visit, and finally to pay and adoption fee. Families who rent must provide a letter from their landlord stating that they are allowed to have a dog. Once the application is received, references checked, and a home visit completed, families can take their new family member home. We have a no questions asked return policy should a dog be returned.
Rusty’s adoption fee is $75. We prefer that families come and pick up their new family member, but a licensed pet transport is available. Should we need to transport Rusty to his new home, you will need to pay $150 to the transport company. For more information on Rusty, please contact Louise Vande Wiele at louisevdew@gmail.com
