Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Gigi! She is a 5-year-old purebred Boston terrier girl that weighs 23 lb. Gigi came to us with a mammary tumor and another tumor on her leg. Those both turned out to be low-grade cancerous tumors. They were removed and had clear margins. Our vet said that Gigi may or may not get tumors again and just to watch her. She has also been spayed, microchippped, fully vaccinated and is heartworm negative.
Gigi is a cuddler; she loves belly rubs and gentle petting on her back. However, when she is tired, she likes to be left alone. She will snap if you try to move her or bother her. She sleeps on the bed on top of the covers. She is crate-trained, does well on a leash and also listens if you tell her to come when she is off of the leash.
Gigi does not do well with other dogs, so she needs to be "an only child". She will get in fights with other dogs, if provoked. We also don't think she would do well with children because of her tendency to snap. However, Gigi is very needy of attention and will sit and whine if she wants to be petted. She doesn't like a lot of commotion. She seems to get anxious and that's when she snaps the most.
Gigi is very calm- natured but loves walks. She can take or leave toys and bones. Her number one priority is spending time with her human. She is extremely people-friendly and enjoys very gentle petting. She doesn't know any commands. If you tell her to sit or stay she runs away--probably thinking she is being yelled at.
Overall Gigi would be a perfect fit for a retired couple who has a lot of time to spend with her. She would be miserable if left alone in a cage all day. She's is very adaptable and would do well in an apartment the city or a home in the country.
To find out more about Gigi, call her foster mom, Kaleigh, at 803-389-3219. To adopt Gigi, visit bostonrescueofsc.org and fill out the adoption application. Gigi's adoption fee is $300.
