Here's what the humans have to say about me:
ALLIE 3-year old spayed female
Allie was rescued into the SEVA GRREAT system from a shelter in Gates County, North Carolina. She is a Golden Retriever mix and has the appearance and markings of a hound. She is very curious, happy and loves to get attention from her humans.
In her previous life, Allie must have spent a lot of time running through the woods without supervision. She will dart away at the sight of a bird, squirrel or cat. A large and tall fenced yard with plenty of room for Allie to run is a must. Allie was able to scale a five foot fence at a park with ease and took off into the woods. She was gone for over 15 minutes and scared her foster mom to death.
She is hyper-sensitive to the sight and sound of guns (either play or real). She cowers when she sees a gun or hears anything resembling a gun shot. We are not sure what happened previously, but a home without weapons would probably be best.
Allie is extremely fast and strong and has had minimal leash training. She is wearing a harness to combat the pulling and darting as she learns to walk on a leash. She will jump up on people as she gets very excited when new humans come around.
Allie is an Alpha dog and is the aggressor when playing with her foster brother. She gets along great with other dogs and loves to play, but definitely cannot share a house with a cat. She is good with children and loves to provide a bevy of kisses to anyone that will take them. She has shown no food aggression and takes treats nicely. She occasionally counter/pantry surfs but will respond and cower when confronted about this bad habit.
Allie is a victim of neglect and will require a lot attention in the beginning. While she may have a few bad habits now, her good qualities greatly outweigh any bad. With proper training she will be a great companion for any individual, couple or family. Allie has made great strides in the short time she has been with her foster family. Allie’s ideal match is someone who enjoys the outdoors and has the time and ability to let her run. Her human/humans will need to be strong and authoritative. Patience and training in the beginning will reap a great pup for the future. Please consider adopting this angel.
