Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Buddy is a typical high energy happy-go-lucky Lab. He is about a year old and about 65 pounds. He loves people and attention. He has spent the last 6 months in a shelter with everyone passing him by because of his exuberance. He is a smart boy and eager to please. He is learning how to live in a home again with a family including young children, a dog and cats.
Buddy is just over a year old and still in a chewing stage. He needs proper guidance to show him what is acceptable to chew and should be crated when he is not being watched. Buddy is working hard on remembering his housetraining (he was given up at 6 months) but still has a few accidents. Buddy sleeps in his crate and stays in his crate when his family is out. He is okay with this as long as he gets the exercise he needs.
Buddy is great with all dogs and kids but chases the resident cats so would only be appropriate for dog savvy cats who will stand up to him. Buddy gets daily play time with the resident dog that is the same age, however his energy level is much greater and he does not tire easily like his foster brother. Buddy could play for hours and still have energy to burn! Buddy would do best in a home that will take him to somewhere off leash. Buddy goes to an off leash dog park to play with other dogs or to a doggie daycare when his foster mom has long days at work. Buddy’s daycare always raves about what a fantastic boy he is. After a day of play Buddy is more than happy to rest and relax at home.
Buddy is learning to walk on leash with a head halti as he is very strong for his size. Buddy is a wonderful family dog for most any family that will invest the time into getting him proper exercise and basic obedience training.
As with most labs, Buddy will counter surf so food should always be put away.
Buddy would do best in a house with a large fenced yard or where he could go to a fenced in dog park regularly. He would either love a high energy companion to live with or have the opportunity to play with other dogs regularly. He would not do well in a home where he would be left 8 hour days regularly unless he could go to doggy daycare a couple times a week as he is much too high energy to be left home alone that long. He would do best with kids 6 and up most likely due to his size and jumpiness and at times can still puppy mouth/bite.
If you are an active owner and would love a friendly companion to play with everyday as well as the time to work on his training then please consider Buddy for you new friend.
Buddy is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Animal Rescue. The adoption donation is $375.
