Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hershey is a 5 year old (she'll have her next birthday in July), purebred (she has AKC papers, but those will not be provided to the new family) Chocolate Lab. Unfortunately her family is changing and they are rarely home to give her the attention she needs and deserves. She is not destructive and does not have any behavior issues, but they don't feel that her current lifestyle is fair to her.
Hershey is very much a typical Lab...she loves everyone and everything (although she has not lived with cats). She's friendly with family, friends and strangers and enjoys the company of other dogs. She's a dream with children...from the tiniest babies on up. She's had her jowls tugged furiously and simply tolerated it...although we wouldn't recommend this, as it's not very nice!
She loves to ride in the car and is a wonderful companion dog. She does not, oddly enough, enjoy the water. She stays out of the pool that is in her current backyard. She's been well-trained and listens very well (most of the time...she is a dog, you know, and sometimes her exhuberance keeps her from "sitting" when she's told). She's perfectly housetrained. She has no negative behaviors whatsoever.
Hershey is spayed and up-to-date on her shots. She had a negative Heartworm, Lyme and Erlichia test in April (just last week).
Hershey was diagnosed last Summer with Addison's. She only ever had one event (during a stressful situation) that indicated something was wrong and her family quickly sought medical attention and the tests indicated that her adrenal glands were not producing sufficient amounts of adrenal hormones (the hormones that regulate stress). She is on daily medication and is expected to live a normal, long, happy life. She has no symptoms of the disease. Her medication runs approximately $40 per month. If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask.
Hershey's adoption fee will be $125.
