My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ruby, simply put, is an amazing little girl. She is affectionate, extremely willing to please and has a wonderful, gentle demeanor about her. Ruby is what we call a "Mexi-Mutt." Her exact breeding is unknown, but whatever is in there, has made for a beautiful and fantastic dog.
Ruby was abandoned as just a little puppy. She was brought into a spay and neuter clinic in Mexico and never claimed. Thankfully, the amazing volunteers at Isla Animals stepped in and brought her into their loving care. With their help and the help of a volunteer escort, Ruby was flown into Canada and welcomed into the open arms of one of our A.H.A.R.T foster homes.
Despite having grown up in a shelter, Ruby has proven herself to be a well socialized, friendly and loving dog. She came to her foster home very timid initially and has been making huge strides in just a short amount of time. Her foster parents, along with her foster "brother" Sisco have been helping to show Ruby the ropes of living in a home and how to build confidence so she can find her forever family or person.
Ruby is well behaved in the home, fully house trained and crate trained. She is learning basic commands and how to walk nicely on a leash, though generally speaking she is a naturally obedient dog. Ruby is very motivated by food, which in turn makes her fairly easy to train. Ruby is a young dog and has a fair amount of energy. She would benefit from a new home that is willing to take her for daily walks and engage in play sessions. Ruby loves to play with her toys, either alone, or with other dogs.
Ruby can be timid when first meeting new people, but she warms up quickly and once she knows you, you have a friend for life. Ruby would be great with gentle children or adults. She is currently being fostered with a 5 year old Sheltie named Sisco whom she gets along famously with. Ruby has met cats and was curious with them initially but soon learned to ignore them. She would be do well with other animals in the home or on her own as long as she was getting enough exercise and attention.
Ruby has a kind and tender soul. Any attention that is given to her is returned ten fold. She just wants to love and be loved. She will be the type of dog who bonds strongly with her new family. If you are interested in having Ruby as your devoted little companion, please submit an adoption application through the website. www.almosthometeam.com
