My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption fee on this dog is $300.

Clyde is a sweet, playful, energetic, mostly black male with tan boots, approximately 3 years old. He was surrendered to a local area shelter when his family could no longer care for him. He had been an outdoor only dog, so a lot of the world is new to him, and he is an eager learner and loves being included in all activities.

He greets people and dogs with attempts to play. There is no hesitation to jump in when the car door opens and he rides very well, although his stomach is still catching up with curvy mountain roads. He settled into his foster home without any obvious issues or behavioral concerns and is almost housebroken. Training is made easier by his motivation for food.

Occasionally, he tries to jump up or play mouthy with people the same way that he plays with dogs. He is otherwise quiet when people are around and likes being in the room with you. The indoor kennel provides a nice place for him to retreat. He frequently uses it for rest and does just fine when confined to it when nobody besides dogs are home. If he is left alone in the backyard, though, he may be at risk of taking himself for a walk around the neighborhood with disregard for his safety.

Clyde needs an active home. His energy level and kind nature suggest that he will do well with hikes and jogs of any length. In the winter, he should do well with snowshoeing and other suitable snow sports. If you are looking for a training partner, consider this cute boy, as he has great potential. He does enjoy time relaxing around the house and beyond occasionally jumping up is not pushy with people, but needless to say, Clyde is not for couch potatoes.

He would love to have another playful dog to keep him company. New to his foster home, he does not seem to prefer the male or female's attention, so he may be fine with either if you have another dog. Without being given much of an opportunity, he doesn't seem to show much prey drive. It is not known how he will behave around cats or other four-legged animals, big or small.

This dog is a Level 2. Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires. Go to our GCGSR Dogs page for an explanation of the Dog Rating Levels.
