Grizzly is an easy going lab. The longer he's around you, the more affectionate he becomes. He's respectful of your personal space and usually prefers to lay on a dog bed in the floor. He's the kind of dog that will come up to you and sit, waiting for affection. He can be pushy when you go to the door; he definitely wants out first, but I don't allow that and he's starting to understand that's not ok. He will get on the furniture for a nap if you let him. He is house and crate trained. He will not go in the crate on his own, but will follow a treat in or allow you to guide him in by his collar. If you leave the house and he's in the crate, he does cry and whine, but does nothing destructive or hurtful to himself. He plays well with our 25lb female blue heeler puppy. He and our male blue heeler tolerate each other but don't play yet. I believe that's probably because of alpha & pecking order issues.
He's definitely a water-loving lab!! We have a creek at our house that he loves to go wade and sit in. He doesn't fetch, but he will catch treats. As far as know basic commands, he doesn't appear to know them and so far will only sit for a treat....we're working on that. He has experienced a few storms here and is very terrified of those. He tries to crawl into your lap and is shaking uncontrollably. He's been out in public on leash a few times and has done well. I keep a harness on him because it's easier for me to control him without choking him on the few occasions when he does pull. He's meet people, children and other dogs while out and interacted well with them. So far there's only been one dog he snapped at while we were in public and I easily redirected him with the harness.
I think he would do well in a home with or without another dog, but the other dog's temperament would probably need to be playful, relaxed and non-alpha. He's a dog who truly appreciates affection and it seems like he might not have had very much previously.
