Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Echo is being fostered in Alberta. Please submit an adoption application found at www.collierescuenetwork.com before sending an inquiry about Echo. Please fully read the Adoption Process outlined at that website. An adoption fee of $350 applies for all dogs adopted through Collie Rescue Nework.
Echo is a bouncy, happy young girl of approx. 8 months. She is still very, very much a puppy so if you're not looking for an active, bouncy, energetic young dog who still does puppy things like chews and jumps up, Echo is not your girl. If, however, you're looking for a fun, happy, goofy girl who will mellow as she gets older but for now is looking for an active, out-going, fun family...well, here's Echo!!
Echo will do best in a home with someone who is looking to get into any of the available doggie sports. She would excel at agility (she wants to please, learns quickly and has no fear!). She's food motivated so learning is fun and easy. Her foster mom says she is "VERY smart" and in just under two weeks has learned so many new things! Any family adopting Echo much have set up obedience classes before any adoption will be finalized. Obedience classes are so important with a young dog, especially an adopted dog. It's a great way to bond with your new dog while helping them become better citizens of their community and also helps with their socialization skills. And, it's just plain fun, both for the dog and the people!
Echo needs a home where someone is home part days as she is still a puppy and needs out multiple times a day both for potty reasons but also to help burn off some puppy energy. She is crate trained and is fine in her crate for a few hours at a time but a full day in a crate will be too long for her. Because she is a puppy though, leaving her loose doesn't really work either unless you're okay with the dining room chairs being a little 'remodeled'.
Echo is great with cats and defers to the cat if told to leave it alone (either by people or the cat). She will chase a running cat but she thinks she's playing and will stop when told. The cats in her foster home walk around her with no issues.
She needs to be the only dog in her new home. Although she is great in outdoor environments with other dogs of all sizes, once she is in the house she is very upset by any dog in her space at all. She doesn't like the other Collie in her foster home to be in the same room as her and gets frustrated and upset. Once they are both in the yard she is happy and wants to play with him. All in all she will be happiest and do best as the only dog in her new home. She is, however, happy to play nicely and respectfully with dogs of all sizes at the dog park and really enjoys outings there (both to play with the dogs there and to visit the people too!).
Echo needs a fully fenced, escape-proof yard as she is specifically in rescue due to her tendency to take her own self for walkies. If left alone too long in the yard, Echo gets bored and will find a way to go exploring. A fully fenced yard and someone who will spend time with her while outside will work best for her.
Echo loves to play with her toys and actually is pretty good at entertaining herself with them. She'll throw them and chase them all on her own. She would be fine with kids 6+ to play with too but they need to be prepared to have a big dog jumping and playing as Echo is still a baby and doesn't yet understand she's gotten Big and will knock over small kids.
Echo is a fun, happy, young Collie girl who will do best in a home where she is given guidance, loads of love and a place where the family is active, out-going and understands that she is still a puppy (even if she looks like a big dog now!). If you are interested in Echo, please submit an adoption application found at www.collierescuenetwork.com before sending an inquiry. Please fully read the Adoption Process outlined at that website.
