Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rue is a petite, young female Border Collie rescued from a Utah shelter. We don't know too much about her past, but know she had completely shut down at the shelter and needed to get out fast. Rue has made leaps and bounds since being in her foster home and will continue to blossom into a loveable and adorable little gal. She was extremely fearful when she first arrived and would cower in a corner if someone so much as looked at her. That didn't last long though and now she is the resident shadow,
following her foster family around the house no matter where they go. They have learned to turn around slowly when standing because she will often be lying right behind her fosters feet!
Rue can still be fearful with strangers, noise, and walking through the streets. However, she is determined to be happy and after some more socialization and new positive experiences her fears should subside. Because of her shyness/fear she would probably fit best in a quieter
home with adults or those with older children.
With those she knows, Rue is as sweet and cuddly as they get. If you are sitting at her level, you can bet you'll have dog on your lap. She even tries to cuddle with her foster brother although he grumbles at her and won't let her snuggle him. She behaves well indoors and although she has a lot of spunk, she settles down nicely and is just happy to be in your company.
Rue adores her canine foster brother and would benefit from going to a home with another happy and playful dog companion. She follows his lead outside and her fosters honestly think he is training her more than the humans are! Rue is a bit reserved upon first meeting other dogs but seems to like those she meets.
Rue is happily working on everything from house training, manners, commands, and walking on a leash. She has great recall!!
Rue really is a diamond in the rough and will be a loyal and loving companion for years to come. She'd probably do best with someone who has shy Border Collie experience to help her reach her full potential.
Rue is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and is being fostered in a loving home in Logan, UT.
