Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi there! Reuben is my name and being incredibly sweet and cute to make your heart melt is my game! I'm an approx. 3 year old lhasa apso. I was rescued from an animal control facility, where I arrived as a stray. You should have seen me. I was a matted disaster and super, duper skinny! I only weighed 11 lbs. when I was rescued, and a healthy weight for me would be around 16ish. I'm now up to 15 lbs. since being fed high-quality food and lots of it at my foster home. I do have something special about me (other than being adorable and sweet). You see, I only have my right eye. It doesn't affect me much at all. I do just fine with my single eye and get around with no problem. If anything, my rescuer says, it just gives me even more character. When I look up at people with my adorable eye, the little white area shows making me especially sweet and innocent looking. Don't let that fool you though, I'm as playful and fun as a pup! I'm in a foster home now with just one other dog, a female terrier mix, and boy do we have fun together! We love to run and chase each other both inside and in our fenced yard. We also have a great time playing tug of war with toys. When the fun's all done, we both like to take a nice nap to recharge for more fun later.
Since being rescued, I've been neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (negative) and put on preventative, dewormed and vaccinated. I'm being fed a high-quality food that doesn't contain any corn, wheat, soy, meat by-products or other low-quality ingredients, and I hope my new family will continue to feed me a high-quality food for the rest of my life. I'd prefer a home with another dog to play with and a fenced yard so I can have that freedom to run in safety. I just LOVE that! I'm being fostered in Decorah, IA, and my adoption fee is $350. If you're interested in giving me an awesome home, please email Margaret at loveforbichons@gmail.com to request an application.
The adoption process with Safe Haven Bichon and Friends Rescue includes an application, reference checks, and a home visit. We do not ship dogs on planes or send them on transports. Adopters need to come to the foster home to adopt.
