Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, my name is Bonnie! My buddy, Bernice, and I are bichon frises looking for a very special home where we can be adopted together. I'm 5 years old, and Bernice is 5 1/2 years old. We came from the same puppy mill and have been bonded ever since we arrived at Safe Haven Bichon and Friends Rescue. My rescuer, who is also my foster mom, wonders if we shared a cage in the puppy mill. I'm bonded to Bernice, but I am a bit more independent. It is very important that we be adopted together. We can't imagine being separated!
Our foster parents think we are just the most adorable bichons ever! I guess we are pretty darn cute! I mean, look at those sweet eyes and adorable round bichon heads! We have really thick coats, and we're soft and cuddly. I'm different than Bernice in that I like to be held by my foster parents. When they pick me up, I just melt into their arms. Bernice needs a bit more time to become more comfortable with people, but she's getting there! Oh, another thing about me is, I love to follow my foster mom around in the yard. I also love to just watch her. Bernice would prefer to just watch from a distance. We're both learning every day to trust the people who are caring for us and loving us. We just need a home with patience and understanding to allow us to continue to blossom.
Here at our foster home we get to sleep on soft blankets, run and play outside in the grass, eat healthy food, play with toys, etc.! Life has definitely improved. The only thing that will make it even better is when we get adopted and have a forever home of our own! Because we are so bonded, we absolutely must go to a home together. That home needs to have a fenced yard. Since we're still shy and fearful, we need the security of a fenced yard to keep us safe.
Since being rescued, we've been spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested (negative) and put on preventative, dewormed, vaccinated, and we both had a dental cleaning also. We're being fed a high-quality food that doesn't contain any corn, wheat, soy, meat by-products or other low-quality ingredients, and we hope our new family will continue to feed us a high-quality food for the rest of our lives. We're being fostered in Barneveld, WI, and our combined adoption fee is $550. If you're interested in adopting us and have the fenced yard that we need, please email Margaret at loveforbichons@gmail.com to request an application.
The adoption process with Safe Haven Bichon and Friends Rescue includes an application, reference checks, and a home visit. We do not ship dogs on planes or send them on transports. Adopters need to come to the foster home to adopt.
