My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Peanut came to us from a small, rural high kill shelter in north Florida. He had a draining wound on his face and the shelter needed him to get to a rescue to tend to his wound. That is when he came to Animal Rescue Friends Network Inc. (ARF'N) in Brooksville, Florida (Hernando County). Peanut's wound has healed and he is ready to find a home for the new year. He is between 12 and 18 months old and is about 10 pounds. As an Italian Greyhound mix, he has long legs and a thin face. Peanut loves to run and play chase and toys are a must for him. His foster home has lots of little dogs and some cats, so he would do fine in a new home with small dogs and cats. He has not spent time with big dogs in his foster home, but he would probably be fine with them as well. Peanut would love to go for a long walk around the neighborhood, then snuggle by your side to rest. Peanut is looking for a family who can care for him for his lifetime of 15+ years.

ARF'N primarily adopts only to residents in the counties surrounding Hernando County in central Florida or within a 60-90 min. drive from the Brooksville/Spring Hill areas. The reason for this is that we personally conduct home visits for each of our rescued pets to ensure they are getting a safe home.

The application can be found here: http://www.arfn.org/adoption-application/

Email questions to: info@arfn.org. We do not have a phone number to reach us.

Our adoption fees for dogs range between $150 and $250. All of our pets come completely vetted (spay/neuter, vaccinations, heart worm tested, on heart worm prevention, and a microchip).

ARF'N is a rescue operated by volunteers with full-time professional jobs during the day. We can't always get back to you immediately. Most of our rescue work happens in the evenings and on the weekends. It can typically take up to two weeks to go from application to adoption. More time is required for pets with multiple applications. We do not adopt on a first come, first served basis. We find the best match between pet and adopter. Please be patient with us through this process.
