Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Update 12/17/14:Hello everyone, it's me, Trey. I am back with my foster family as my new fur-sister and I were not a good match. It's okay, I know that my new family loved me but they had to do what was best for all of us. I really like to play and I may have tried too hard. Anyway, I am quite happy here with my foster family but will be looking for my forever family too. I am very playful and I love to be outside (even with only 3 legs I run fast and play hard). I like to walk on a leash too as there are so many new things to see out in the front yard. I am completely housebroken and even if my family is gone a little longer than I can hold it, I use the little white pads and I don't even miss. My FM says I'm a squatter (what ever that is) and I do not mark (what ever that is) and she likes these traits. I love to cuddle on the couch and I sleep all night at the foot of the bed, or in the middle, or at the top...as long as I'm in the bed I'm not picky (spoiled). My FM says I have "puppy energy" but I am really learning to mind when asked to calm down or sit as I am eager to please. If you are looking for a confident yet crazy boy to add to your fur family drop my FM a note.
Update 11/21/14: Hey everyone, guess who got their stitches out. If you said Trey, you’re right!! I got up early and went to see my surgeon who took my stitches out and released me to my FM in good health. I then went straight to the groomers to get a bath (I haven’t had one since the accident because of the stitches). I have been doing really well this past week. I have learned what “sit” means and on occasion I do. If there is a treat involved I have a harder time as this is so exciting to me. I outrun all of my foster sibs on my three legs and I can get on the couch and up on the bed (which is allowed where I stay now). I have minded very well about furniture I am not allowed on. Other than pestering my foster sibs I get along with them wonderfully. I also get along well with the 3 year old that visits regularly. I am packed full of energy and my new parents will need plenty of patience and love as I continue to work on getting my “puppy manners” in check. I am a good learner and I love to please so it shouldn’t take long. Me and my three legs are ready for a furever home!!
Update 11/14/14: Hello everyone, it’s Trey and I am feeling great!!! I went in for a checkup this afternoon and the doctor says I’m healing perfectly. I am loving life with the exception of this cone on my head. FM says I am going to meet my foster siblings (one at a time) this weekend. I hear them in the other part of the house and I can’t wait to see them. I still have to be very careful with my stitches but I have absolutely no problem getting around. In fact, FM is trying to teach me not to drag her around when I have my leash on. I am eating very good and taking care of all of my business outside. We are working on “sit” and “come”. These are tricky for a boy with so much energy but I am learning. I will be getting my stitches out in 6 days and I am really excited because I will not have to wear this cone. Did I mention how much I dislike this cone?? FM says I have so many people helping me and supporting me and I just want to say thank you. I am a sweet little boy who is now going to have a super great life because of you!!
Update 11/09/14: I picked Trey up from the clinic early this afternoon! He came through his surgery with flying colors and he wants to thank his generous Angels who are making his care possible. He still has a long way to go but he is on the right track now. The Doctor removed his right leg up to the shoulder but it was not necessary to remove or invade any part of the shoulder. This is great news we are told.
If there is anything good about the previous, very painful condition of his leg it is that he has learned to walk without it. He gets up and is ready to go, go, go, however his wound must heal and he is on strict kennel rest for 10-14 days. He will require lots of special love and attention, which he will get.
I just took him outside to tend to business. The doctor says he must walk on his own. I was a little timid but Trey wasn’t! He is so ready to live a normal life without pain and without that cone on his head. I can’t wait either. He is just a puppy and the doctor says a healthy puppy too! He is eating well and all bodily functions are working.
This Foster Mom is humbled by your love and generosity for Trey. He will continue to need your well wishes and thoughtful support as he recovers and learns to walk without tumbling forward.
We will keep you posted on his progress.
Initial Bio 11/08/14: Hi, my name is Trey and boy have I had a rough day! I was dropped off at Animal Services this morning with a soiled t-shirt wrapped around my front leg. When they removed the t-shirt they discovered that my leg was severely mangled and very badly infected. The doctor says that I have been in this shape for a while and that I have endured a lot of pain. There is no way to tell how I ended up with this injury only that I needed immediate help. The great folks at Animal Services noticed right away what a sweet and loving boy I am and thought I deserved a second chance. I am so grateful that UYR thought so too! The doctor had to immediately remove part of my leg and tonight I will have the rest of my leg amputated. Although I have suffered greatly I was giving kisses and laying my head on my new foster moms shoulder. After my surgery I will recuperate with my foster family and I’m told we will start looking for my own forever family. I know my vet bills are going to be very high and I appreciate your love and generosity.
